Sheilaz
Oh Clare, hope your day improved, we all think you're fab! Dan, I grew up with the original Rev.Awdry books so I know what you mean about some of the poorer versions. But I did like the Ringo star TV ones.....over, & over again for my boys! What did you think of those?
Mrs Frugal
I grew up with the original stories and loved Mum reading them to me and my brother. The boys have the original books now and loved the Ringo Starr narrated stories on TV but gave up after he stopped reading them.
Sheilaz
The Ringo ones were all based on the original 26 books (so they are good)but once those stories ran out... NIGHTMARE! We agree on quite a lot of things then, Dan. Glad you grew up on them too, Kate. As for worst films; I didn't ever see it, but all my male friends went to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre, back in '70's. It had a cult following but, from the title, I can't imagine what the appeal was.
Mrs Frugal
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a good horror - there is one scene that will haunt you forever (think of a butcher's shop). Yes, I know the scene - never quite leaves you, does it - ugh! I saw a C4 thing the other night where they went through a list of the best horror films and I had to hide during the bit about Halloween - it still scares the socks off me . Popcorn
Yes, Ed Gein. Have read his biography. All those films were based on his life. He actually did all of those things, but not to those extremems - I know how silly that sounds. Worshipped his mother so much he had a room like the one in Psycho, and he used to made body suits and things like lampshades from human skin (ugh, yack, ewwww)....but did you know he only murdered one person. It was the female owner of his local hardware store. Everybody else were dug up from their graves. Anyway - don't want to give myself nightmares..... The Dogmother
Dan, sorry to change the subject completely, but I can't remember where the original thread was about the trains and bakelite museum In the summmer, we went on the Blaunau Ffestiniog railway, it was fantastic - so picturesque, with lakes and waterfalls along the way. Didn't get to ride on the footplate this time, but did tell off one bloke, who was ruining the experience by talking very loudly and ostentaciously on his mobile!
