Chocobo
Am I the only one who didn't know that 'keeping pet chickens' the book on omlet is actually by Johannes Paul and William Windham? I'm supprised it didn't say on the omlet shop site- if i wrote a book i would advitise it as a book by me! Or does it say that and i missed it? And.. Is it any good cause I've been thinking of buying it?
Looney
I have this book....I like it and it is good for the basics . I bought it before my chickens arrived and found it useful however not sure how useful it would be if you've had chickens for a little while already...... Chocobo
Not very long.. And a reference book is always useful
Dippy Egg
Has lovely photos, including plenty of a nice yellow Eglu! I bought it when thinking about getting hens and my children enjoyed reading it. Once we had decided on an Eglu it was nice to find a book with plenty of photos of one (lots of other chicken houses too)
Popcorn
It's a good starter book, and of course, you can show off infront of your friends say you know them! It tells you a little bit about everything from basic anatomy (how an egg is made), various breeds of hens, food and water, how to handle a chicken, behaviour, routines and a bit on breeding. It's a very friendly book to read with some great photos of hens and the Eglu. It might need updating for the Cube now though If you need more specific information I'd go for a reference book. There are some good ones about. I can recommend The Complete Encyclopedia of Chickens by Esther Verhoef Edited June 18, 2007 by Guest

lisa33
I love this book. I bought this for Andyman for Christmas when we were still undecided as to whether we should have chickens or not. I think it worked.

Couperman
We bought 'Starting with Chickens' by Katie Thear, It's very good but I must admit I have learn't far more about chickens and everything to do with them from this forum! There are some things even the most knowledgable author can't possibly fit in a book. You can't ask a book a question!! You can here and you get exactly what you need to know! Long may it continue! Well done all you superchicken helper peeps! Kev.
Chocobo
I've definately found the forum the most useful thing for researching chickens..
Olly
I bought the 'Keeping Pet Chickens' book before the Eglu came, so I could prepare myself. It is quite basic, but if you don't have any other books it's a good starter, and there are some nice pictures ... I used to read it in bed and fantasise about when my chickens would be here I might have to look for the encyclopaedia though, you can never have too many books
Kathy C
This Keeping Pet Chickens was the book I used to convince Mr C that we were not mad to even think about the idea. He read it and said OK. Then we spent hours on the Omlet Website. It is still my first choice if I want information quickly and concisely.
