clucker1
So, what did everyone think? It was very arrrr at the end with all of the snow. Dame Maggie was MAGNIFICENT as ever. The speed of the bit about going to America and then not was like concorde....I was looking forward to Downton flying across the pond....was the budget cut at the last minute so no New York? Mum
Don't think it was anything to do with budget cuts, just that in view of Mathew and Mary's change in situation, it was no longer necessary. Loved the double ententres at the beginning! Had me
Alis girls
Sorry thought it was pants - several friends agreed. Maggie Smith was the best thing about it - the nutcracker gag had me in fits - think it was too long and I was too tired

Cinnamon
I think Downton has one more series in it & next Christmas we will be treated to the big wedding & a very happy ending
Egluntyne
Definitely. We have yet to see Thomas and O'Brien get their just deserts, and find out who really killed the former Mrs Bates. I'm still thinking it was Mary's ex-fiance ....whose name escapes me.

Seagazer
I enjoyed it and was so glad when Mary accepted Matthew's proposal at the end. As ever Dame Maggie was absolutely on top form, I love her quips.
Olly
A little disappointed, to be honest - lovely Christmas decorations, Maggie Smith on top form etc - but one of the things I really enjoyed about the last series was that you were never sure what was going to happen by the end of each episode. This was all a little too predictable for me, and had the feeling of setting up the story lines (Sybil's pregnancy, Bates' appeal against conviction, Mary/Matthew etc) for next series. Cinnamon
I have only just seen it,so my prediction of next Christmases special being of the wedding, was made before I saw the lovely proposal I enjoyed it BUT I do wish they had made a bit more of the Christmas meal - I would have loved to have seen in more detail the foods they were enjoying & it just didn't feel especially festive to me somehow That said,I did love the episode as a whole & I was so pleaded that for at least one couple, things seem to be working out. I was very glad to see the back of the odious Carlisle too
