hippy chick
I have just finished making my first rag rug. My daughter gave me some Hessian for my birthday so I decided to have a go at prodding a rug. Its taken about 2 months and its not perfect but it has inspired me to try more projects. Olly
Ooh, lovely! I've had one of these on the go for, hmm let me see ... about a year! I'm not brave enough to do a design though, I'm just doing a random one. That looks very cosy.

Couperwife
That rug is fab, I love it. Did you use a pattern? Or make it up as you went? Well done Cathy X
hippy chick
Thanks, I decided to just draw a basic design for the chicken and the rest just sort of happened. i am surprised at how much material it used though. Poor old hubby lost quite a few t shirts and jeans

Mum
I think you have made a wonderful rug! Great design I've latch-hooked rag rugs, but never used the prodding method. Yes, they do take up a lot of material but I was fortunate that I become friendly with a guy who sold material on the market and asked him for any s"Ooops, word censored!"s he had; plus there was a local clothing manufacturer and I asked for a bag of s"Ooops, word censored!"s from him (got 3 huge sacks full! Great for latch hook, not so sure it would work with the prodded method though).

hippy chick
I googled prodded rugs and found lots of videos on you tube. There are loads of websites showing different techniques. I havent tried the hooky rug method yet it looks too tricky for me just yet It is very addictive and its brilliant to do on a winters evening because it really does keep your legs nice and warm.
