Mum
I think Kit and Kat will probably be chosen I've been wondering if I should have Kat as the name of a chicken but realised that it would be quite fitting if it was also short for Katherine...as that was my Nan's name and she passed away a week ago So sorry to hear about your Nan. Sincere condolences ((hug)) Was that Kat that jumped on your lap for a cuddle?
Plum
They are some of the nicest looking chickens I've seen, I just feel I want to reach out and touch them. I have a bantam orp but she's very shy though docile and if the others were away I'm sure she'd be the same. Mum I think you have a chocolate problem, they just seemed to roll on the list. Mum
... Mum I think you have a chocolate problem, they just seemed to roll on the list. The best part is .... I don't eat chocolate I won a prize of a Terry's Chocolate Orange last week I waited until everyone had left, then quietly offered it back with a gracious "thank you". I love it when we get those "Two truths, one lie" introduction games - for my lie, I always say: "I love chocolate" and so far, it has not been picked up as my "lie"

Chortle Chook
What lovely girlies they all look! Makes me laugh as the expansion has been so fast and the WIR looks so nice, that I imagine your OH in the WIR (on the little green stool) and all the chooks outside it
Cheeky Chooky
Thank you for the lovely comments No giraffes although I'd love one I had the grub and glug up there for Pip & Squeak but there's no need now as they trot around in the leaves with the rest of the girls Kitty (the lighter Orp) is still jumping up on my lap! She's so sweet and little Pip (my avatar pic) is always hopping around my feet when I'm out there with them I do love my girls

superkitty
Can I ask a couple of questions? Looks like you use wood chip in the bottom, with link a bord to stop them hoiking it out all over the place - is that right? And do you get your wood chip from someone local to you, or from a website or similar? My two girls are going to have the 4m eglu run (I've already extended it twice) and then the 2m WIR. Quite a lot of space....I wonder if I could fit in any more ladies ? something to think about
Cheeky Chooky
The hardwood wood chips are from Flyte so Fancy and yes, the Link-a-Bord is doing a good job of keeping it inside the run It just finishes it all off and makes it look nice and neat I've also got lots of leaves on top of the hardwood wood chips and the girls absolutely love scratting around in them! Luvachicken
Sooooooooooooooo jealous That looks absolutely fabulous. Me thinks...I want......can I attach that sort of run to my original cube and 3m run I wonder ??????????????????????? I mean can I ? Does it all fit together from a low piece to a high piece ? Cheeky Chooky
Yes, you should be able to do it; I've got a Cube with Run attached to the WIR
superkitty
Hokay...after 5 hours work in subzero temperatures yesterday, the WIR is up! Just need to attach the eglu and run and fill the WIR with wood chip today, and we're rocking! Had a few issues with the doors (not quite sure I've got them on right - or even the right way round...the omlet instructions were very vague!) but I'm sure it'll come right by the end of the day. I'm excited! normally I'd be making a snowman in this weather but I'm raring to get going on construction again Oh - and I ordered the woodchip from flytesofancy and it literally arrived the next day! Great service, thanks for the recommendation cheeky chooky

Chortle Chook
Only just caught up with this. Yes, superkitty, you certainly deserve a BIG Woo hoo! . . . I particularly like how nice your orange grub and glug look in it. A bit of real colour on these grey Feb days . . . but where are the pictures of the (additional) chookies enjoying it? Hint, double hint I know, I'm
Duncan08
Big WooHoo from me too I dont know how you managed in that cold. I was going to make some perches for my WIR on Saturday, but after a couple of hours cleaning them out and pottering, did a little bit of face to face intro, it was just too cold to stay out any longer and I had to head back indoors. Well done, It looks great
superkitty
Thanks! Am a bit single-minded about things like that - I Was determined to get it done but then got properly chilled and couldn't warm up all night! Just had a load of different screw-on perches arrive, so will be fixing those on and seeing what the girls think! Also (ahem) some fairy lights for the roof (hopefully shouldn't disturb the girls but will take em down if they do) But don't tell anyone about that last bit
