Health and bullying problems

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Some extra info before I describe:

Chryssie is laying

She is eating and drinking fine

Her poo is normal

She is a year old approx

She is a light Sussex

She's a big weighty hen

So firstly she is constantly in the penguin stance and she waddles instead of walking like the others? Secondly she is quite withdrawn from the others and is being bullied badly. At first we thought it was a pecking order issue but then started to use anti pek spray but it has had a short term effect and now the girls don't get deterred anymore. She really does squeal and will squash herself under a grub to protect her head

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we are totally stuck

Many thanks

Well like humans there is the whole range of problems maybe heart or liver or tumours and the vet may be able to diagnose. I really don't know but I guess the immediate thing is to protect her from the others. Can you seperate her with a non agressive one. If you can't seperate I'd put up lots of obstacles for her to hide behind and extra food pots.

Has she always waddled or is it a new thing?

peritonis IF it is that, is unlikely to respond to tylan..

Noroclav or equivalent will be needed, as will a vet to diagnose, as sadly we cannot tell really from a post, I agree though penguin stance is very characteristic of peri or tumour(sorry) had to have one PTS for a friend that could not afford a vet and had tried to treat herself, however a quick examination from my vet (who incidently goes more than the extra mile to save the girls) and he said no ifs or buts PTS a massive tumour.

However hopefully really, peritonitis can have a good outcome sometimes.

good luck
