Charlottechicken
I've found a tin of Merchant Gourmet chestnut puree in the cupboard, it doesn't say if it is sweetened or not. Any ideas for cakes or desserts I can make with it?
loumabel
My Granny used to make a dessert with chesnut puree and it was lovely. It sounds weird but sandwich together ginger biscuits spread with the chesnut puree to form a long log shape then drizzle with sherry and let it soak in and leave in the fridge for half an hour then whip double cream or whipping cream and spread over the whole thing and decorate with grated chocolate. Its Yummy!!!!! one of my childhood favourites!!
Sue_F
The Buche de Noel I make uses this, it's a Mary Berry recipe, not very seasonal though!
bluekarin
It makes an amazing stuffing My sis in law did one at Christmas. I think it was a can of it mixed with some sausage meat, s&p and that's about it I think. There maybe recipes on-line
Space Chick
I was going to say stuffing too sausage meat, breadcrumbs, a bit of water to bind it, salt and pepper and then make into balls and cook for about 25-30 mins at 400/200/gas Mark 6. They freeze really well (cooked) too, then I just defrost 4 and reheat for 15-20 mins.... In fact following the same cupboard discovery I hav some in the freezer right now
Charlottechicken
Thanks guys, I love the sound of the ginger biscuits and sherry cake Will have a look at a buche de Noel recipe too. I want to try it in a cake, so might make some sort of filling from some, and mix a bit with the actual cake mix too. I'm guessing I can freeze it, so might open the tin tonight, it's a bit out of date
