PurpleTree
Are you all going to have a meet when you've finished, all wearing your matching cardies?
Space Chick
Why are you going to join PT? A meet is an intriguing idea
AndreaT
I'm in! Thanks to Kazmac for the tip that Black Sheep Wools had the wool in the sale I have just placed my order. Not sure when it'll arrive so I might be playing catch up with you all. This will be the first ever item of clothing I have ever knitted so it may not be fit to wear when I've finished! Jennifer Jane
Well, I checked my stash and I didn't have enough in the right ply or at least that's what I told DH when he asked. And as I couldn't wait for it to be delivered I had to go out yesterday and buy some That's not chunky either , but it was in the sale. I think it's close, I may have to do a tension square. Can't wait to get started. Now where are my 6mm needles???
craftyhunnypie
Going to have a look through my stash although, that pattern takes a lot of wool & I don't think I'll have enough balls. I mustn't buy any more wool until I've used all that I have! No no, I reeeeally must not! Emma.x
kazmac
Glad you got your wool even cheaper, Andrea. I've ordered from Black Sheep Wools in the past and delivery was only a few days. Mine appears to have arrived today, but thanks to no. 2 daughter 'missing' the postie, I have to collect it from the sorting office tomorrow!! So I've not started mine yet. I still have some easter knits to finish anyway, so might not start until Friday. But I'll have my needles at the ready just in case! Space Chick
I've had to order new needles (Hobbycraft only had plastic 6mm ) but I've ordered metal ones off eBay. So I won't be starting until my needles come. So I have started a jumper back whilst I'm waiting
Couperwife
try Charity shops for knitting needles - they always have loads. you usually have to ask for them though, I dont think they can leave them on display as they are "an offensive weapon" my yarn is on order cathy x
Purplemaniacs
Oh no I fogot to order needles, I have some that were my mums will have look there first. Chrissie
kazmac
I'm actually toying with the idea of treating myself to some Knit Pro Symfonie (wood) needles. I have a couple of smaller pairs and love them. But I have metal ones in any case.
craftyhunnypie
I've got some nice bamboo needles with red & white spotty dotty bobble ends. They were bought with some money I was given from my knitting club, when I moved. Emma.x
Guest
I ordered some wool off e-bay - but went for pure new English wool. So will have to do a tension square to see how it all knits! Blimey - I remember when home knitting was cheap! I can't wait to get going on this - I thought it had arrived this morning, but the parcel was something else. Then I just got an e-mail to say it's been posted this morning - so I should get it withing a couple of days! Clickety click!
kazmac
Collected my wool from the sorting office this morning - I braved the snowstorms to get it! Wasn't waiting another day! It's lovely - is that really sad that I just got excited about wool and called it 'lovely'?? Will be looking out my needles later and probably make a start to it tomorrow or Thursday. I too remember when knitting used to be cheap!
Purplemaniacs
I too remember when knitting used to be cheap! I remember my mum doing lots of knitting to save money, all jumpers and cardigans were homemade to save money Chrissie
AndreaT
Woohoo, postie just delivered my wool and needles! It's lovely, I was worried slightly as you can never tell the true colour when ordering off the internet. I think I'll start later today
Space Chick
My needles have just arrived too Although, I had started a jumper whilst I was waiting My debate now is do I finish the jumper or leave it one side and start the cardy

MummyHen
My wool arrived this morning and I've started I'm making the large and have cast on 177 stitches - knitting back and front together until arms Any one on Ravelry?

kazmac
I spy some knit pro tips there, Rachel! I'm impressed with how much you've done already! I might get as far as casting on tonight, but won't get started properly until tomorrow night or Friday - then I'm on holiday next week, so ...... Although I'm supposed to be learning my Latin vocab & grammar next week and catching up with all the bits of my OU course that I've not done yet, cos my exam's in June!! But knitting sounds soooooo much more fun ........
Jennifer Jane
Although I'm supposed to be learning my Latin vocab & grammar next week and catching up with all the bits of my OU course that I've not done yet, cos my exam's in June!! Just remember "creo ergo sum" (don't know the Latin for knit unfortunately). I started mine after doing a quarter of a tension square and thinking that's near enough, but I have only done about half a dozen rows.
