Omlet crafty knit along... Cardy challenge

Recommended Posts

I've done about forty rows now, and I'm really liking how the wool is knitting up  I'm calling it my "Jubilee cardy" as it's Red, white and Blue

Tomorrow we are away for the night.... And next Friday we go on holiday for a week.... I've told OH my knitting is coming with me

Need more photos people :P

Wow SpaceChick - I too love the colours! It really is like a Queen's jubilee coloured wool! :D

My wool came this morning - so guess what i will be doing tomorrow. Looking forward to this. I might have to give SpaceChick a shout when it comes to sewing it up - I hate that & am a bit rubbish at it.

I like that it's knit on 6mm needles - will grow quick.

I've now done 26cms - do i do a few more before I start the shaping for the fronts?

Might need to order one or two more balls of wool - decisions

Oh well have a very busy day - shopping preparing for the family to come over tomorrow for lunch; so may not get much more done until this evening

Well I started mine, but it's now all pulled back ready to start again! Arrgh! I'm even wondering whether to be naughty & do every stitch knit. I just can't remember if I've done my 3 knits or 3 purls & I lose track. Also is it right that every row is k3,P3,K3 ? My wool didn't truly show any patterning by doing this - that's why I might just do it all knit.

But the pattern doesn't read like that. How you are doing it Cathy, was my immediate thought of how it should be, so it turns out like vertical rows of 3 x 3 rib or 'worms' as I call it.

If that was so, then the pattern should read..

row 1) K3, P3. K3 repeat to end

row 2) P3,K3,P3 repeat to end.

Repeat both rows until work measures 24cm or whatever the pattern says.

There's going to be loads of variations, styles & colours of this cardi! 8)

I've not even started mine yet! I've had visitors all weekend and thought it would be a bit rude to be doing my knitting! They're going out for the day tomorrow though so hopefully I'll get a couple of hours after work and I'll start it then. :D

The way the pattern reads is always K3, P3, K3 .....

So you're always knitting into your 'knit' stitches and purling into your 'purl' stitches. What I see emerging from mine is a pattern that looks like a bit of fat garter stitch and a bit of thin garter stitch. What you're really doing is a pattern consisting of 3 garter stitch and 3 reverse stocking stitch :)

a bit of fat garter stitch and a bit of thin garter stitch

thats exactly right fat garter then thin and the pattern does appear after a couple of inches - 123, 123, 123; I;ve been counting 123, 123, 123 most of the evening.

I do like the way the yarn is pooling the colours - I was worried that it would look too much like a zig zag but its turned out very nicely

I have added a couple more photos to my Ravelry project page for those of you on Rav

I hope these pictures will show the pattern - it is simple but mistakes are easily made and the pattern is then shot, I did rip out a good 2 inches at one point as I saw a mistake and I knew it would bug me.

I have nearly finished the shaping for the fronts, I have a few more rows and then I will split for the arm shaping
