Ain't Nobody Here
"It's not where you would expect to find a wild animal, but a Hertfordshire school boy found this young fox nestling on his duvet. After discovering the fox, the boy's family shut the bedroom door and sought the help of the RSPCA who took the animal away. But not before taking a picture of the unusual encounter first." Paola
Awwwwww, sweet Just glad its not my bed its sleeping in I stayed with a friend recently in Clapham, London who lives in a mews. I thought I heard him return so I went to greet him, turned on the kitchen light and was greeted by a rather large beautiful fox staring at me through the door. He was clearly living very well because he was in great condition. Not at all fussed by seeing me and just stood there. Cat freaked out and ran away I don't see any where I live, which is semi-rural and have only really ever seen them in London.

Angie
My Aunt ......many years ago when i was small, rescued a fox cub and raised it. It was an integral part of the family, and never chased the chickens in the yard. They were a farming family....... My Uncle Harry thought she was mad and said it would be off when it was old enough, but my Aunt wanted to give it a chance............so many a time little foxy was found asleep with the children tucked up warm beside them. He was a faithful little friend for two years .He came to a sad end when they were having new drainage ditches dug and he ran with the children along the edge of the ditch, sadly a work man spotted him and not knowing he was a family pet..............no more foxy. Lavenders_Blue
Awww, cute photo! Little foxy looks so comfy on the bed Can't help wondering why the boy has a pink duvet though?! Angie - that is a really sad story
Snowy
If it was anything like my boys' bedrooms, it probably smelled like a foxes den anyway - poor little thing probably felt right at home!
Kirstine
To me that looks like the sort of pink duvet cover that was white before sharing the machine with a red sock ... It also looks like a pretty mangey fox!
lillybettybabs
Auww... bit of mange going on there!
Chortle Chook
Oh poor wee thing. I have a horrid fealing that the RSPCA would have put it down as you are not allowed to let foxes (counted as vermin) loose again, I think
Chucky Mama
They let them go all the time. I don't believe that they are classed as vermin.
Alis girls
Regularly find 2 cats usually trying to play bedmice with my feet.

Chortle Chook
They let them go all the time. I don't believe that they are classed as vermin. I do hope that is so but when I took a wee fox cub to our vets here (offering to pay), to my grief they put it down giving the reason that it is classed as vermin and so could not be let back out into the wild
Geoid
They let them go all the time. I don't believe that they are classed as vermin. They are, under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Chucky Mama
I would be interested to know where it is in this act Fred as it was my understanding that there is no legal definition of vermin in the UK and that the issue re releasing animals referred to non indigenous species. Regardless, the RSPCA release foxes all the time.
Geoid
You are right, there is no legal definition of vermin, but since they are not a protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 you can kill them or release them. There is also no closed season for killing foxes, unlike with some other animals.

The Dogmother
I'm afraid that I'd burn all the bedding if that mangy specimen had been on one of my beds.
C&T
I'm afraid that I'd burn all the bedding if that mangy specimen had been on one of my beds. I'm not sure I would keep the mattress either!
Chortle Chook
I'm afraid that I'd burn all the bedding if that mangy specimen had been on one of my beds. You don't have much confidence then in modern bio washing powders and nice hot washing machines
The Dogmother
I do usually, but I'd have to do more than that to eradicate the thought of it's mange and fleas. I'd burn the mattress too.
