clucker1
Well, we knew it would happen.....RATS! We have a wir on slabs and adjacent compost. About a week ago, I found the layers pellets were being consumed rather quickly and OH then saw a furry friend !!!!! in the wir. Also, the girls had taken to sitting on their perches and the hotel (old rabbit hutch for newbies to reside in) quite a bit. We put a rat box down adjacent to the run.....first night 3 bait blocks went (nexorexa) and the second day 11 blocks got scoffed (or taken to the nest for babies???) Since then nothing.....but yesterday I saw a smallish rat in the adjacent compost, which is about 10 feet from the wir. Now with the forthcoming wet weather this week, I am concerned the blighters might channel their way in under the slabs due to the soft ground. Any ideas anyone? Going to get some more rat boxes tomorrow.
Cheeky Chooky
Hi, sorry to hear about your rat problem I'm afraid I don't have any advice but I didn't want to read and run Sounds like you're doing a good job so far though
lindafw
we have rats courtesy of my next door neighbour...he has a beautiful house..a clean and tidy garden and a dog..but he also has decking and the rats love it. They have dug corridors under it and even his paving has falled due to rat runs...traps are not working and neither is poison....I am considering shooting...sad I know but if all else fails... clucker1
Thank you for your support Cheeky Chook, much appreciated. linda f, I would recommend nesorexa in bait boxes. If you shoot them the blinking babies will still be in the nest growing! With the poison, they ingest it and DIE normally in their nest, and give it to their babies. Good luck! elderflower
Just seen this post, where do you get nexorexa from? My neighbour has rats in their garden and they are starting to come through the fence into our garden They have a lot of rubbish and they throw food out to the rats which does not help! Would rather try and nip it in the bud before they invade our garden. Thanks x
clucker1
I buy neosorexa from our local animal feed merchants, but you can buy it from Amazon here http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=neosorexa&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=14380909796&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=854156941585763027&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_8zkgv85v6c_b I have used both the powder and blocks successfully. I use the same product as our local Council Rat man does, only I don't pay the £50 call out fee they introduced a couple of year ago! I use it in a rat box (black plastic thing which you put the bait in a separate chamber and it has a lock on the side of it . Initially, the rats can take a few days to "get used to " the new thing in their territory, but is has always worked for me. Good luck!
