snowberry
My gorgeous girl was diagnosed with intestinal cancer 3 week ago & died 3 weeks later on Friday morning. She had lost 1/4 of her bodyweight over the last 2 months & because of the lack of nutrients her body was getting, she was nicking everything in sight.... On Thursday, unbeknown to me until the evening, She stole 1/2 a loaf of processed white bread. This (I later worked out) sent her into shock. As she was all trembly when I got home in the afternoon, I knew she wasn't well, but put it down to the cancer & her going 'downhill', so I put off the vet & my aunt said to see how she was in the morning. All night I was with her. At 4.50 I & my daughter woke up & at 4.58 she died in my arms. i feel that if I had seen what was happening, I could have done something. I feel so bad, I have let her down

Daphne
Please don't berate yourself, you couldn't have prevented the cancer which would have killed her at any time and the outcome of this is that she died at home with you, comfortable and safe with all the familiar sights and smells, the best thing you could have hoped for in the sad circumstances. RIP Akeira.
coco
So sorry. Please don't beat yourself up about it. she died at home with people she knew. I know how hard it is to lose a dog. Big hug from me.
snowberry
Thank you for your kind words. I spoke to the vet today. They can only go by what I told them, but from her scan results they said that she died from a rupture of the spleen. Even if I had got her to the vets, they couldn't have saved her & it was better that she lived life to the full, right until the last day & died in her favourite place, my bed...x
superkitty
So sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful dog and at least you were together at the end; so you know she would have felt safe and loved as she went.
Seagazer
I'm so sorry, she was absolutely stunning. You couldn't have prevented her death and as others have said, at the end you were with her when she died. Its always horrible when our pets die, as they are one of the family. Sending (((hugs)))
