Organic Shopping - How expensive is it??

Recommended Posts

Got my delivery from A & C yesterday and I'm very pleased with it. Bearing in mind it was only a small box for one person there was quite a lot in it.quote]

glad it was good- can I recommend their bottled water too, really nice and you dont have to lug it home! We used to fight over their Rocket in our house....aah those were the days....

Not really Lesley, we used to have one every month but it stopped

We have the occasional Continental Market but nothing on a regular basis

There is a farm shop not too far from us in Kingswinford, a bit of a trek but when I have some free time at the weekend I will go and have a look

We had our first box from Riverford yesterday :D:D Very Yummy :D

We had the mixed fruit and veg box.......lots of things for only £13.50. Had the loveliest Salad sarnie for my lunch yesterday - contents all from the box and tonight we had a tasty casserole with some if the veg followed by fresh pineapple for pud :D:D:D

Liked the look of the receipe idea for the spinach - might try that tomorrow :D

How have I missed this thread?!?! (possibly because I've been rolling around in muddy fields for the last three weekends!) Anyway, we used to have abel & cole and it was a bit hit and miss, so started going back to sainsburys for veg (which I hate). One evening we decided to make some lovely stuffed baked potatoes for the family, got to sainsburys to get some lovely organic ones only to discover they came all the way from Egypt. I put my foot down there and then. The non-organic ones were from britain, so just took them home and gave them a good scrub. Luckily have since discovered a fantastic local organic farm shop that grow their own veg, raise their own meat and produce their own milk and eggs. (not that I need more eggs!) It just amazes me that supermarkets can think they can fool people into thinking they're doing good by opting for organic when it's shipped halfway across the world! What about the local farmers says I! (Ooh I just hate supermarkets after reading 'Shopped'! )

I did noticed that the organic produce was from abroad (which I dont have too much of a problem with) although I do think that the farms in the UK could supply us with what we need.....As you said Egypt, a VERY poor country can supply organic produce, why cant sainsburys source it from the UK?????

Maybe thats a phone call for tomorrrow :) I feel a rant coming on :)

That is interesting!

The sentence that will appeal to many Omleteers is this one:

"Flavonoids are also found in dark chocolate, red wine.."

Yikes, I'm drinking white tonight.............. does that mean I'm going to need to open a bottle of red as well so that I can get enough flavonoids :?:roll::roll:
