The Dogmother
Same here, the river is about to breach again, so they've closed a couple of the town centre car parks which always get flooded.... not good with all the traffic in town today It has been 'monsooning' here most of the night and hasn't stopped since I got up. It wasn't light enough to draw the curtains until 10am!
Groovychook
Very wet & gloomy here. There's a lot of flooding locally although I managed my trip to the supermarket- thank goodness! Some of the tall hedges are starting to collapse though. I had to dodge a few lumps of stone and branches strewn about the roads. More rain due tomorrow and Christmas Eve. When will it ever stop?! mollyripkim
Same here, raining all night, feel sorry for all the people getting flooded so can't moan too much about the soggy state of the grass. Girls not happy at not being let out but their feet are too feathery so just not good for them. Have 3 and a half hour drive to Norfolk tomorrow so allowing ourselves plenty of time. The Dogmother
Just been down to look at the river; it's 3 feet away from breaching and we haven't had the worst of the water come through yet, it usually takes 24 hours to show here. I reckon that it will be over the banks tomorrow morning so I'll walk down there for a look.
lillybettybabs
Our garden is like a bog and the water is only slowly draining away, The road coming into the village a more like stream so the lower end of our village may be at risk. I hear that they are issuing sandbags in some parts of Banbury town!
The Dogmother
Haven't seen any sandbags yet but then I've not been to the lowest areas yet. Went to look at the river again this morning; it has been up and over the lower carparks last night.......... bizarrely they are offering free parking over the next few days; perhaps that should be 'free parking and car wash'! it's now more or less within its banks but breached in some areas in town. The canal is within 1" of going over the top in the town centre. The park at the bottom of our road has standing water in areas where I've not seen it before, and a friend who lives near there has their cellar pump and dehumidifier going 24/7 at the moment. The water table must be the highest it's been for decades.
The Dogmother
Went down an hour ago to walk the dogs round the reservoir; the river at that point has risen 3' since this morning and has breached the banks so there is limited flooding around there, the car parks are partially flooded and we saw two cars parked up to their axles in water. The Dogmother
very good. Raining heavily again, the car parks by the river in town are flooded and my garden has standing water, which it never does as I'm halfway up a hill.
lillybettybabs
My garden normally has good drainage but we have Dylan wallows now. I am so pleased i battled with OH and put the hens onto the patio for the winter i would have had a surfing Fran go passed my door.
The Dogmother
The rain has eased off now and it's a bit brighter. 10deg and overcast. The water in my garden is at the bottom where the ground gets trodden down and hardened; I'll get a fork into it when I go down later.

The Dogmother
The dogs have been having a great time in the floods. I bet Clearer skies and much colder here now - will be fun if all that surface water freezes!
Valkyrie
Fat chance DM! Torrential rain followed by more torrential rain. Huge very loud and very long thunderclap around 3.30-ish followed by more rain then eerie silence. An hour or so later more rain and more thunder. Today we actually have seen the sun, briefly and it's shining as I write - but I can see the dark grey clouds over the back of us. Oh well at least the chooks have had a couple of chances to dry out! The Dogmother
Raining first thing, but clearer and sunnier later on, not bad at all.
Valkyrie
On and off cloud, but dry for the most part in the end. Lots of flooding all over the place - The Thames has burst it's banks along by Staines town and Laleham towards Chertsey Bridge. Oh I should say it's now Staines on Thames because the council didn't like being referred to a ghetto by Ali G. So all the expense of changing signs has really mad the locals angry - and it was a just a JOKE! Anyway that's where we've been - hanging out where Ali G hung out - same road as in his film - MIL's house (shame it only filmed the opposite side)! Groovychook
Lots of sunshine mixed in with the showers yesterday which made a nice change but back to the murky rain today. 9 degrees and a bit breezy too. I heard someone on the radio say that we've got gales due over the next few days

lillybettybabs
We set off at 11am OS map in one hand and dogs in the other for our Boxing Day trek dry and a little sunny when we left, it just started to rain at about 2ish as we were just walking down the hill into the village - i had no hat or hood. The Dogmother
Warm but damp this morning, we headed off to meet LillyBettyBabs and Lavenders_Blue for a dog walk in Northants, the weather soon cleared a bit and it's cloudy now but 11deg, so pretty mild. We didn't get wet, but we did get VERY muddy.
