counturchickens
Absolutely shocking here in Derbyshire, roads flooded all over the place. Keep safe everyone!
Cinnamon
It's like being in a washing machine here,& really rather scary.
Luvachicken
The wind has died down here for the moment, but I know it's coming back. I never sleep well when it is windy at night, as I'm surrounded by other peoples very big trees. I don't like it.
The Dogmother
The wind has abated somewhat here to, it's no longer thudding against the house and whistling down the chimneys. The rain is another matter though and is thudding on the flat roof at the back. Next-door-but-one has scaffolding at the front of the house..... strangely, no-one has parked in front of their place I have battened down everything that could move in the garden and just hope that it will hold. it's like Noah's blooming Ark here
clucker1
Aha, DM, the reason the wind has quietened down is because you sent it to me here. It is bloooooowing and raining lots outside. I have shut the girls in tonight, don't want to worry their little brains about the nasty wind any more than necessary. Apparently we are due thunder and lightening around midnight. The Dogmother
Funny you should mention storms... I thought i saw a blue-ish flash when I was out, but no thunder. It wasn't raining at the time but perhaps it was a leccie cable touching on something. I do hope that anyone homeless or sleeping rough has shelter tonight
The Dogmother
3deg, bright and calm here this morning.... rather eerie Cloud looks to be building though.

soapdragon
Belting down here most of the day - all low lying farmland roundabout flooded and the house feels damp even with the heating on. Winds forecast for tomorrow - doom, gloom and despondancy No nice dry, crunchy leaves for the boys (or me!) to kick through Sunshine soon please, even if its cold with it! The Dogmother
Weird here this morning; it was very clear last night, thick freezing fog, 1deg and a frost this morning. Dry until lunchtime then the rain and wind started
Egluntyne
Pitch black till about 10am here - lights on etc. Now it is dazzlingly sunny, but oooooh so cold. My back garden is under about 2ins of water.
The Dogmother
Sorry to hear that Egluntyne, dark morning here too, but brighter a bit later. Just been out and it's blisteringly cold, clouding over now and none to warm. Lots of flooding hereabouts, luckily we're a bit higher than the town centre, so not too bad. snowberry
Our village was completely cut off last night, but had cleared sufficiantly by this morning Feel awfully sorry for the peeps down in Newlyn today Thank goodness I didn't buy that house down on the harbour that I wanted
The Dogmother
I am sorry to hear that; I'd heard that the SW coast had been badly hit. Cold here now and starting to rain again. Just heard that The Cherwell has breached again higher up the river on the other side of town and is higher than it was the other day. I drove out to a friend's today and the floods nearly reached across the road; single file traffic and driving slowly. The fields on both sides were very deep under water. Any more significant rain tonight and it will be bad news. Edited November 25, 2012 by Guest
snowberry
Some more cliffs out at Pendeen (near Lands End) have fallen into the sea today. The country is shrinking
chickencam
It is cold and dull here today, my son went on a geography field trip to Slapton Devon yesterday morning, we were very unsure about letting him go with the forecast for last night, but he is ok but did get soaked yesterday afternoon. They are talking about possibility of snow by the weekend
The Dogmother
I can believe that it might snow, it is feeling colder here now.
Lesley
The Avon is even higher this morning with the footbridge alongside the second river crossing into town completely submerged, luckily, the road is a couple of metres higher......I didn't dare go over the main river crossing which is a very old bridge. The Avon isn't due to peak until tomorrow! A couple of miles away from us, Sunrising Hill is closed due to a landslip - you might need to check on Saturday if you're coming to the market Clare. We're so fed up with having to pump dirty water away from the house now.....and it's still raining!. Our half dozen sheep are OK, they're in a small paddock and the big barn which is dry - the hens are paddling in mud.
snowberry
The wind & rain haven't abated in Cornwall at all. I spent half the night listening to it. I fear for my lean to conservatory
patsylabrador
My garden is waterlogged and ankle deep in two places - don't laugh! It's the first time the chicken's run has flooded. Good luck to anyone suffering in this weather. Still mild and not windy today.
chickencam
Had to read that a couple of times before a little laugh escaped We covered our hen run with a long piece of corrugated clear plastic which has helped with the standing water in there, but there are 2 'white' hens in the Eglu run, they are not looking their best. It is cold and drizzly and very dark here this morning, I want to hibernate.
Groovychook
The wind & rain haven't abated in Cornwall at all. I spent half the night listening to it. I fear for my lean to conservatory It's much calmer up our way thank goodness... unless it's on it's way back up! Just dull here with a slight breeze. The ground is still very squelchy though. The Dogmother
Clearer and colder here today and the wind is round in the north now *Brrrr*. The river was high when I looked last night. I saw that alert Lesley, thanks for reminding me; I'll check again at the end of the week and go via Ratley if necessary.
The Dogmother
0.8deg here this morning and a lovely clear, sunny day. Only just 2deg now and blisteringly cold. Makes a change from the rain.
