The time has come, at the tender age of 14 months, baby Sam is coming out with mummy and daddy tomorrow to pick out some new chooks

 

Soooooo excited!! Have 11 wonderful ladies already, hubby has agreed to up to 3 new big girls (rather than banties) AND he's agreed to letting me get another eglu... YAY!!!!

 

Doesn't matter how many girls we have, its always so exciting getting new girls, just never gets old Can't wait to see how Sam reacts - he has a severe form of childhood epilepsy, low muscle tone, developmental delays and visual impairment... he is also the happiest, bubbliest child ever with a smile that outshines the sun and he ADORES our girls!! Whenever they bok or cluck he turns his head towards them, and he loves how soft they are.. he's the main reason hubby allowed us to have the 4 pekin girlies as they are soooo friendly and tame... it'll also be the first time in months we've been out as a family, Sams epilepsy is so severe that we have to have an oxygen monitor and oxygen cylinder with us whenever we go anywhere, we've had the monitor for weeks but the portable oxygen cylinders only arrived last week Until now we've been confined to home/hospital, cannot wait to be a normal family again! Let the weather do its worst - nothing is going to spoil this :D

Oh it's Saturday, it's Saturday! How exciting! Please update us (with pictures of course) when you can.

They're home, and they are utterly adorable!! We went for a columbian blacktail (Dixie), a silver sussex (pied sussex, Morticia) and a spekledy (Bella)... they're just chilling out in their carry box while hubby attaches run to coup then they'll be let out to explore

Brilliant - like you say the buzz over getting new chickens never goes away. Same as when they lay an egg.
