Mr Diack and the flowers.

Recommended Posts

Did anyone notice how Mr Diack ( President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) handled the flowers he gave to the marathon winners during the closing ceremony of the Olympics last night?

It was hilarious! He grabbed each carefully created bunch by the wrong end and thrust them into the athlete's hands. Had us all giggling as we enjoyed the closing ceremony!

I thought it was odd too, but then I wondered if maybe he'd been told to do it that way, so that he handed the stems to the winners so there was less chance of them being dropped. That was how I justified it anyway, can't think of any reason why he'd be so cack handed otherwise :lol:

We assumed he was a hayfever sufferer .

Then thought he was in a hurry to get a good seat to see the spice girls .:lol::lol:

DD thinks he had a plane to catch to beat the rush out of London :clap:

But he had to do a job he didn't want to do and had a strop on.

Just had lunch with a colleague who's son was a "Gamesmaker", he was on "medal-tray-holding-duty" at a number of events. Apparently the Olympic Organisers have been besieged with complaints about the way Mr D (and others, apparently) handed out the flowers.

My colleague's Son said that it took two hours to prepare each medal "tray" (allowing for placing everything and polishing the medals etc) and every tray had to be exactly the same - so lots of people behind the scenes were rather put out that some of the medal presenters appeared not to take the whole thing as seriously as they might have done.
