kannie
We seem to have an ongoing problem with mice, and just can't get rid of them. They're not only outdoors but indoors too: our house is old and full of gaps for them to get around by, and they have several regular routes that they now use right under our eyes! We've put mouse traps down, and caught one mouse some weeks ago with a bit of left over black pudding However the remaining mouse/mice seem quite unattracted to not only black pudding, but also cheese, chocolate, and pumpkin seeds! Any idea what is irresistable to mice? I don't want to resort to poison, really.
hillfamily
Sorry Kannie...............can't think of anything. Fortunately we only have a few wood mice in the garden and our 2 cats are quite good at catching them Ooohhh.......just thought.......mat be a bit silly what about hamster treats......something like the little milk drops. All our hamsters and pet mice have always loved these
Olly
peanut butter! I think it works because it's sticky, it slows them down. fortunately the only mice I get are the ones the cat brings in and then lets go, but one at New Year took ten days to catch; it kept nicking the chocolate (and it was G&B) and legging it out of the trap right in front of me! Peanut butter got him in the end.
Snowy
Or grit your teeth and try the G&B's - maybe they've developed more discerning tastebuds!
kannie
Actually the chocolate we tried was pretty good: Lindt 85% cocoa solids! Maybe too good? (ie not very sweet) Don't have any peanut butter Maybe I could grind up some almonds? Or hamster treats sound like a good idea!
Cinnamon
Peanut Butter - they love it!
Scary Mary
We found tuna worked well, but had to stop when our Great Dane hunted out the traps to steal the Tuna . Peanut butter was still the best, but nuttella type chocolate spreads were quite successful too. I have waged war on the little blighters since they ate all but 3 out of 2000 crocus bulbs that I slaved all autumn to plant Mary
Louise
Sometimes a bit of wet tissue will tempt them as food is easier to find in most houses than water

mountainboarddude
peanut butter is the best, we have caught about10 mice using peanut butter over te years, also the sachets of mouse poison are pretty good for indoor and outdoor use.
