I think I've killed my food processor

Recommended Posts

:shock::shock:

We have just discovered the full range of uses for our food processor, :D and one of these uses was to make pasty :D .

well, it seems that the motor doesn't like being left to make pasty and gets too hot and stops :shock:

I think i'm going to be shopping in the boxing day sales for a new food processor :roll::lol:

Can anyone recommend a good one? (or one to say well clear of :D )

Thank you

Cathy

It does depend on budget, but also bear in mind that you largely get what you pay for with food processors. I have a 40 year old Kenwood Chef, which I use for the real donkey work, but I have a Kitchen Aid Artisan food processor, which I love and find very versatile. It is sturdy die-cast, so reassuringly heavy, and always delivers the goods with whatever I am using it for.

i shopped around when I had some Christmas and birthday money, and then bought it locally through a shop, which matched the best online price.

If you have time to save up I have a Magimix 4200 which is very sturdy. I had 2 Kenwoods in the previous 20+ years and I prefer the Magimix. I have 2 extra bowls of different sizes with the Magimix which I never ever use - I can't remember if they cost extra but they did that was a waste of money (the Magimix was a present).

I killed my food processor too. Brought a kenwood one in the sales but it didn't work and despite the box saying it was 2.1 litre capacity, it was only 1.2.... so that went back. Cant afford much at the moment so have a sainsburys own brand one.

We also have a kenwood chef that I LOVE. The dough hook saves my hands when making bread.

I've got the Magimix 3200. Very pleased with it (agree the 2 extra bowls are a bit of a waste but they come with it)

Sturdy, capable and does the job. I have been replacing my kitchen gadgets with the best I can afford as they pack up and so far it seems to be working well. I think you have to decide if you are going to get cheaper ones which will need replacing more often or a more expensive one which will hopefully last for many years. There probably isn't much difference in cost doing this - you can buy 10 £20 machines for the cost of a Magimix - but you get a much more solid machine with a better motor in the mnore expensive ones.
