Charlottechicken
OK, own up, anyone been buying in the online sales yet? Or has anyone been brave enough to venture out and visit shops to buy? I am holding out this year, there's nothing I need so I'll save my pennies for a rainy day I think (or maybe an Omlet must-have ). I did have a few emails for online sales which started on Christmas Eve, but deleted them! Any sales we should all be looking out for? Cinnamon
Couldn't sleep at 3am, so ventured onto the Fatface site & bought a load of XXL tops for the Husband, as they are the only ones his shoulders fit in to! Found a few nice jewellery bits for me too I do NOT do sales unless they are online.

chuckmum6
Yes, only on line, I bought myself a few extra Christmas presents from Boden, Joules and Radley . Venturing out with OH to get a fire for the living room and I've stopped an electric screwdriver I fancy from B & Q.
Grandmashazzie
I am trying to avoid sales.Always buy something I don't need or really want just because it's a bargain.
Olly
I am trying to avoid sales.Always buy something I don't need or really want just because it's a bargain. Ditto! I don't need anything - but the words 'John Lewis sale' always make me twitch!
soapdragon
I don't 'need' anything but will pop into Henley tomorrow ( are you working, Cinnamon?!) so will do a Fat Face run...then on to feed the ducks at Day's Lock for a breath of fresh! Have planned a quick trip to Bicester Village on Monday to do Cath Kidston. Molton Brown and L'occitane just in case they have something! However, I only do the Bicester Village thing 2/3 times a year in spite of the fact its only 45 mins down the M 40....too designer and so sad now Fat Face has gone! Ain't Nobody Here
Not a sale as such but I've managed to find a discount voucher code for Case Happy, who do cases for Kindles/tablets etc - CASE888 gives you 10% off. I bought a Kindle cover from them recently and it's brilliant.
chuckmum6
Wow you are a brave sole facing Bicester! I have only been a few times when sailing from Southampton it was always, heaving - good luck hope you bag a bargain!
Lavenders_Blue
Absolutely not - I hate sales with a passion! I can't think of anything more ghastly than pushing my way through a heaving crowd to buy discounted tat! I have had a look at a couple of shops' online sales, but here's nothing I really need so I've resisted the temptation (well... Not much of a temptation really ). Soapdragon - I live 20 mins from Bicester Village and avoid it like the plague; it epitomises everything I hate about shopping you are very brave. soapdragon
Sorry to have missed you, Cinnamon. Will try and schedule very overdue dentist's apt for a Mon or Tues in the N/Y! DM - I'm not a fan of 'the village' but I do like Cath Kidston, Molton Brown and L'Occitane and that's the only way I can afford them on the very rare occasions I have some spare cash!!!!! Hate, hate, hate all the designer clothes hype....now it seems much of it is made specifically for the outlets (esp Ralph Lauren!!) Fat Face was always a great source of huge savings and I bought some great melamine mugs for the boys from Bridgewater. I get there about 15 mins before it opens, stay for an hour until it starts to get busy then leg it!!!
The Dogmother
The only times I go there, I plan a 'buy and run' visit while Phil hovers in the car, waiting for me to emerge.

soapdragon
Well, The Village wasn't too bad! I got there at 8.40am, parked right outside and wandered for 20 mins or so until the shops all opened. However, Cath Kidson had not rucksacks, l'Occitane didn't have the handcream that I wanted and so I just bought some smellies for OH in Penhaligons- I drove out at 10.00am! It was heaving by that time with at least four coaches in the car park and queues back onto the dual carriageway Way too upmarket....they were three deep waiting for Ralph Lauren to open
The Dogmother
We drove past there at 9.30am, on the A41, to get to my folks for the day; the traffic was already backing up
soapdragon
Actually, thinking about it, there were signs all over the place about reclaiming VAT so, if the tourists who all come by the coachload (apparently its the 2nd most popular tourist destination in the UK tho I do find that HARD to believe ) claim VAT back its all 20% cheaper anyway. No wonder its so busy! Somewhat unfair to us 'locals' tho I am somewhat cynical about these outlet villages; we were at the Swindon one in November as OH wanted a suit from S&M (and had a voucher) so I went looking at their undies (nothing like M&S undies !) and many of the items had a label saying that they were made specifically for the outlet! I rather thought that outlets were for overstocks/'unsold in the shop goods'...is that not the general idea or are we consumers being ripped off (again!)? There was a prog on the tellie recently (can't remember the channel!) that investigated these outlets and also TK Maxx....it seems much of the stuff is specially made specifically for outlets and are therefore not the same as those goods sold in the 'main' stores and many of the labels they looked at were deemed misleading by Trading Standards! Even staff at Ralph Lauren and a couple of other stores at Bicester Village confirmed this (via hidden cameras!) I suppose this just confirms the adage that 'if it looks too good to be true then its probably is' I shall go back to E bay!!!!!
