Please help if you can, and circulate to anyone you know in the area...

 

A good friend's lurcher was attacked on holiday near Skegness, she was badly injured and fled in fright. Stella is a gorgeous dog, but has been missing since yesterday... her owners are distraught as you can imagine.

 

This link is to the DogLost poster for Stella - please circulate or get in touch with them if you're in the area and able to help. The dog is tagged and chipped, and wearing a collar which wouldn't come off unless someone removed it.

Please come back to your owners Stella - they must be worried sick. It must be even worse that they are on holiday and the dog won't know the area I really hope she is found soon.

No news yet, but they are going to scour the vets in the area when they all open tomorrow.

 

I have emailed acquaintances in the area - they are in the police and have dogs - to see if they can help. Stella's mum has someone with a tracking spaniel coming over tomorrow (Friday) too. She's a lovely hound, and I hope that she's safe.

Update (of sorts):

 

Says on Dogslost at 11.25 there's been a possible sighting of Stella near Sloothby which is about 5 miles away from where she went missing, so Sandy is heading over there now. Hoping it is her and Sandy finds her and can take her home.

I look at my two 'melted' on their beds in front of the stove, and worry about Stella out in the cold

 

That photo I posted was taken when we all met up on the beach in Anderby Creek in Lincs; we had such a lovely long walk with all the hounds playing together.

Oh dear, what a sad update that it wasn't Stella who was seen Poor girl, she must be so chilly out in this cold wind and rain we have had today. I really hope someone spots her very, very soon

I'm fearing the worst now, but hoping that some kind soul has taken her in. Sandy and Graeme must be beside themselves with worry; Stella is a star in their pack of hounds.

Oh dear hope they find her.The not knowing must be the worst.As you say I hope some kind person has brought her in.

There is more news.... 2 sightings now, in Boston, close together. If it's Stella she could be making her way home.

 

Sandy has stayed with the caravan, and their other dogs, on the coast, in case Stella returns to where she last saw her humans. Graeme is on his way home in case that dog in Boston is her and she's trying to get home.

 

There are now lots of people out looking for her, local dog clubs, other lurcher owners. If it is her, she will be terrified, so Sandy has asked that no-one tries to approach her, but calls one of the numbers on the DogLost poster and they will come to her.

 

Stella is an older dog and quite timid under normal circumstances; when she was attacked, Sandy thinks that she was badly injured, so Stella will be terrified.

 

We all have everything crossed, and are hoping that it's her and she can be re-united with her family. The Lurcher Link community is a bit like Omlet, in that we are close and will unite at times like this - it's a scenario that we all worry about.

I am sadly too far away to help but I just hope she is found soon. Her owners must be at their wits ends. I know I would be Will share her doglost link on FB. Such a lovely looking girl. I take it she was attacked by another dog

For those sharing on facebook, this advice has been posted on the lurcher forum:

 

If anyone is sharing on facebook, if you copy the dog lost url into a status it shows a thumbnail of Stella. If you click on the share on facebook button it shows a random black and white dog as the thumbnail.

The possible sightings in Bristol sound positive as they mention a blonde lurcher in a fancy collar... Sandy is going out there at first light...

Do you mean Boston not Bristol? Even so - Boston is 16 miles or so from Skegness which is a long way for her to travel if she is injured. Hope they find her.

Sorry, yes... Boston (had just addressed a parcel to Bristol).

 

Still looking, and the local greyhound/lurcher rescue is now out searching. It's looking less positive as tie goes on.

Some (sad) news as closure to this.... after much searching, with a big posse of Lurcher Linkers up there yesterday, Stella was found by a tracker dog. Sadly, she had passed away.

 

At least Sandy and Graeme know now. Run free in the sunshine sweet Stella; you were well loved.

So sad, but as you say, closure. My sister-in-law lost a dog some 20 years ago, and has never found out what happened to him. We still wonder.
