wez
Finally, after becoming a featherhead in November last year, by rescuing a Pekin and adding another 4 to her gang over the next couple of months and succumbing to a cube vey quickly, we have had out first egg today!!!! I'm so eggcited (sorry!) and thrilled I can't believe it! It's a thing of such beauty and it's reverently placed in the kitchen ready for hubs to admire when he gets in! If only I knew who'd laid it I'd kiss her but as they're being wormed at the moment I can't even give them a treat until Saturday!! Wow ... just needed to share that!!!! mimi5
So now comes the big decision..........how are you going to eat it????? So many options, or do you wait for more, go mad and make a cake!! My pekin girls lay the most yummy eggs. I've become an egg s"Ooops, word censored!" and don't eat any other eggs
Luvachicken
Yay, your first egg. You never forget your first egg I scrambled my first one and shared it with my sister ( usually in Greece ) and we had a little bit each
auntielizzie
Yay You never get over the excitement of going down your own garden and collecting eggs from your very own hens Oh the joy you feel when you get a "full house" and the disappointment on the days when there's nothing "What, no eggs today girls?!" Its been a horrible miserable long winter and the eggs have been far and few between (although thankfully I haven't had to resort to buying any from the shops ). This last week though I think things are turning for the better. Today was a 3 egg day (from 4 hens). I might even be able to start selling a few again soon (which is an amazing feeling too - you feel sooooo proud ).
