Ideas for Golden wedding anniversary please.

Recommended Posts

My parents are going to be celebrating their Golden wedding anniversary soon and I was thinking about making a gold themed foodie related gift.

So far all I've thought of is a box of Terry's All Gold, a packet of those GOLD bar biscuits and Nescafe Gold Blend.

I haven't looked round the shops yet but wondered if any of you have any more ideas.

I would be most grateful for anything you suggest and even other present ideas - although I do have something up my sleeve for a 'proper' present later.

Thank you :D

Thanks for all your ideas so far.

Have managed to find a few things ...

Best bargain was 1/2 price Lindt rabbits which of course are wrapped in gold foil. Mind you thinking about it, they should be far less than 1/2 price by now really. Never mind they are gold and that's what I needed.

Sadly Yorkshire Gold tea doesn't come in decaffeinated so couldn't buy that.

I did find the Gold fruits in a can - quite a few varieties in that, but only bought 2.

Also haven't found any Gold Wispa's yet.

Have a whole week to keep searching though. It's amazing what you can find when you look hard enough.

Does anyone know if Terry's All Gold comes in milk chocolate ? I could only find a dark box :(

Thanks again xx

Perhaps worth noting that in Tudor times a "marchpane" was often served as a sweetmeat towards the end of a decadent feast. We more commonly know marchpane as marzipan, and it was in the form of a fairly large cake, covered in gold leaf.

These days, of course, marzipan is easy to get, so you wouldn't have much trouble making the cake of it, and edible gold leaf is available at a pretty reasonable price - here for example.
