soapdragon
A word to the already very wise........! I have just had my third e mail in two weeks purporting to be from Paypal and asking me to verify account details. Several reasons are given; this last one was so that I could use Paypal via my mobile. Clearly these are phishing because Paypal are always clear that they NEVER ask you to verify info, because the wording and phrasing are decidedly odd (as though written by someone who is not a native English speaker) and because I don't have a Paypal account They all threaten to suspend or close the account if the requested details are not provided - tho how they could do that to my non existent account I don't know HOWEVER, a friend of mine did fall for one of these a few weeks ago as she logged on in a tearing hurry and didn't read it properly - I know, very silly; she is otherwise usually very savvy but was in the process of buying several things on E Bay and didn't want hassle with her account being suspended/closed. Lavenders_Blue
It's so easy to caught out if you are in a hurry or just skim reading I too have had several of these 'PayPal' emails but thankfully they just seem to go straight into my junk email folder. bluekarin
I have had several of these over the years. I just forward them to Paypal phishing site and they check them out. I never believe anything I get in an email, especially if it is unsolicited. The amount I have had from various banks about possible account breeches.......in banks I have never owned an account

Princess Leia
Forward the whole e-mail to spoof@paypal.com. It's become a regular event for us, I just wonder how many they get sent to them? Valkyrie
I have had loads - and I know they are rubbish ones because I could never get Paypal to work for me - says I'm the same person as my husband and when he tried we got in such a kerfuffle even he couldn't be bothered to use it in the end (actually I have the same problem with John Lewis - hubby activated his and when I tried to do that with mine it said I'd already done it - meh). Valkyrie
Hahahaha! Yup, us in a nutshell!!! When I last went into John Lewis the lady serving me said she had the same problem - she suggested ringing the number on my temporary card and telling them straight that our addresses are different! Thankfully not just me then - I won't bother with Paypal - I don't think they are the easiest company to contact by phone anyway!
WitchHazel
I have the same problem with John Lewis - hubby activated his and when I tried to do that with mine it said I'd already done it - meh). For JL, If you're both using cards on the same account and the cards come together, only one of you needs to activate them.
Valkyrie
But I still don't have my individual card - so I can't pop in for coffee when I shop without him. I have one for Waitrose but it's a different thing - it's only for use in Waitrose. I have to activate my temporary card to get the plastic version.
