London drivers

Recommended Posts

I mentioned on another thread that on Monday because of a thunderstorm which caused flash floods in my area absolute mayhem was caused. MS was caught up in it and relaying what was happening.

He saw 'mummies' in their big four by fours stopping in front of puddles and actually getting out to wonder what to do. Inevitably white van man(s) were getting out of their prams ' Wot cha doin? Bleep, bleep bleep, bleep, I don't need this on a Monday mornin', blah, blah, blah'.

One officey type person hesitated under a bridge and was being harangued by an officey type person behind him, then men got out of cars, and fists flew in a very flappy Bridget Jones fashion. The police arrived but the traffic started to move so he doesn't know what happened. Presumably they were told to calm down and offered chocolate.

It all made him very late but was quite entertaining.

Oh dear, sounds a bit like Brummie drivers too

We have a wide and sharp angled junction near us where every time we get to it, there is something odd going on. Coming back from holiday the other week, we were actually undertaken by someone who wasn't prepared to stop, and was turning right  We have seen a woman park her car in the middle of the road to go to the newsagents on the corner, had to reverse to drive around her  Just last week, a young girl with headphones on stepped right out in front of us without looking, so OH pipped the horn just to make her aware of traffic, and was rewarded with a two fingered salute!

Maybe some flash floods here would dampen all the nutters down a bit

My ED took a two hour refresher driving course in Bristol the other day, she passed her test 3 years ago and hasn't really driven for 18months whilst at uni. There are a lot of 20 mph zones in the city and she was amazed by a driver who overtook her in one of these then nearly collided with a driver pulling out of a junction just along the road. This happened within 5 minutes of her getting back into a car. The instructor said that she had nothing to worry about and her driving was great, he said that anyone would have struggled to stop and not end up in an accident in a situation like that. She has decided that the idiots all drive Audis in Bristol, because she saw a few other examples of bad driving that day too.

I followed a very alarming learner today thro Edgware. At a mini round about she got in rt lane to turn left without giving way to traffic from the right. Luckly the teacher pointed out the error of her ways. At the next mini roundabout - she stopped on top of the white circle - no signal - I wasnt sure how to interpret this and stayed behind till she decided what was what  God help us.

I am sooooo fed up with sticking to the exact speed limit (I got caught doing 33 in a 30 a few years back and had to go one one of those speed awareness courses  ) and then having someone driving so close behind me that I can't even see their number plate. Its road bullying as they are clearly trying to speed me up!

Its shocking how often this happens; I only do about 5 000 pa anyway! There have been times when I have been frighted to brake in case I get 'rear ended'........I don't always agree with speed limits but they are there and so should be obeyed whether a driver likes it or not.
