Facebook and adding friends/sending friend requests

Recommended Posts

Right, I have finally joined the dreaded Facebook, after many years of saying I would never do it  I have found family both near and far on there, and am wondering which of the friend options I should use to add them to my friend list and stay in touch. Do I send a friend request or do I click the button marked add friend?

Someone please explain the difference, or is it me?:lol:

I've just seen something that implies they will suspend your account if you make too many friend requests

I don't think you're going to fall foul of that  have you seen how many 'friends' some people amass

And remember you don't need to accept all friend requests when they start arriving. I accepted a couple from colleagues I got on well with and wish I could 'unfriend' them as we now have nothing in common but it would feel rude  . Easier to ignore until you are sure you want to be friends.

I have about 100 mostly family and a few close local friends. My best friend won't use facebook :(

I love seeing what cousins are up to and baby pics :D One of my brothers is very funny on facebook 8) and I love being able to share a joke remotely.

Ahh, thanks for that! I'll start sending a few requests out to family then, there's a lot of us so I may be a while :D

I have one friend so far, a friend from my old job. Unfortunately, a lot of folk from there who I want nothing to do with are friends with her so I have changed my settings so hopefully they won't be able to see much :anxious:

Thanks for the heads up about Facecrooks - I've added that page to my Facebook. Someone on here (I forget who!) posted some great info about how to maximise security on Facebook and I followed all the advice on that page, but always happy to get more advice and tips. You just can't be too careful and it's not always easy keeping up with all the scams that are doing the rounds.
