HarrisonFamily
We are currently converting the loft into a play room... I live in my parents old house, I actually grew up here so since it was built in 1960 things have been added that now have to be thrown away..... best thing I found was an old kitchen sink.....so if only my Dad was alive I would have to ask "really....." It did make me laugh...... Do you know what is in yours .......
Olly
I can't get in the loft very easily just now, but I'm having a new ladder fitted soon, which probably means I'll heave even more stuff up there. I'd like to think it's just a few Christmas decorations but in reality I know that there is a cardboard box for practically every electrical item I've ever owned, some original paintings done by my MIL (I've been divorced for 20 years) a set of six dining chairs in pieces which I'm going to do up one day (yes, honestly!) and the dental impressions from when I had an implant made. Sigh. I should go and re-read the decluttering thread. The kitchen sink must have been quite hard to get up the ladder!
chickencam
I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to find a kitchen sink in our loft
Ain't Nobody Here
My attic contains almost every toy & teddy my 2 boys have ever been given (they're 22 and 20 now) . Along with a load of their school work, boxes of books we will never ever read again, clothes I always imagined I'd wear again (I haven't even though I could fit into them now) and countless other things that should really have gone straight to the charity shop/tip . Valkyrie
Oh yes clothes. DD's. Lots of 'em! Plus toys, books and more books. Christmas decs. Some 78 rpm records that my nan gave me - and probably warped as the Scalextric track had to be thrown away many moons ago. Also her writing desk - which is really something to put on top of a table as it doesn't have legs but little round k"Ooops, word censored!"by feet. My other nan's collection of little china things - mostly souvenirs from royal things and holiday things and tiny vases. It used to have all hubby's old work papers - which have now been shredded and used as chicken poop trays and nest box fillers - and I don't think there are any left as the ones not to be destroyed are at the office now. Photos by the thousands somewhere. And junk that we probably forgot about. We started going through the books to declutter - there are still a few that we want to hang on to, most went to the charity shop. And a partridge in a pear tree . . . not. Well maybe the odd mouse. Which has probably made a nest out of the photos.
The Dogmother
I had a kitchen sink on the patio for a while.. as you do... I'd taken it out of the kitchen when re-vamping it, and the sink was far too good to throw away, so I saved it for putting in the utility room when I did that up a year later. Lydia
See I beginning to think we're a bit odd because, even after nearly 17 years in the house, there's very little in our loft. A couple of boxes Christmas decorations, a few pictures, hubby running medals (don't ask me why he keeps them up there, but he does...), 2 suitcases, 3 old hamster cages and the water tank. That's it. I have other bad habits but I don't think I can count hoarding amongst them My mother is exactly the same and doesn't hold on to much either so it'll be a very easy job when my parents shuffle off! Hubby's mother, on the other hand, is a totally different kettle of fish - that'll take days and many trips to the tip....
Lewis
My brother is up in the loft We had the loft converted a few years ago so it used to be full of junk but now there's not much storage up there apart from Christmas Decorations, boxes of photos and suitcases! Bramble
Well, here's where I get to feel very pleased with myself!!!! My house may be a total mess, but there is absolutely NOTHING in my loft (apart from a bag of spare bean bag beans to refill dog beds - I'm figuring they just add to the insulation until we need to use them!). My house is full of junk and clutter, but at least I know there's nothing in the loft and I'm determined it's going to stay that way
bluekarin
hubby running medals...... I read that as hamster running medals I think it was because my eye caught the hamster from the next line and mixed it up. I blame it on the headache I have had since waking this morning I am pretty sure we have a huge amount of junk in our loft I know we have several bags of soft toys, an old record player, the usual Christmas stuff, cardboard boxes.......and lord knows what else
Charlottechicken
Not much in my loft either Empty cardboard boxes and one shelf unit with a few things on that will soon be moved. My loft is huge and the couple who are buying my house couldn't believe the size of it as it is almost 30 feet long and 14 feet wide, almost completely boarded and you can stand up in a lot of it. New house is a cottage, so virtually no loft space at all. It will be a challenge but I'm looking forward to having nowhere to stuff junk
kinsk
We don't have a loft. Last Christmas my niece and nephew came over to decorate the tree etc. Nephew was looking at the ceiling and asked where our loft was, when I told him we didn't have one he asked where our Christmas decorations came from
