The Dogmother
Having lost a couple of old-timers recently, I have treated myself to two new blue egg layers - they are Blue Angels; a cross between an Araucana and a White Star, so they will stay quite small, but will lay large, light blue eggs. They are white with black and grey splodges and little head tufts. They were very timid yesterday evening, but managed to take themselves to bed in the spare Eglu, but had to be coaxed out this morning. The Dogmother
My goodness look how regal they are! such pretty girls, Do you name your girls DM? And WOW....you have grass....not for long Yes, they all have names... these are Nellie and Lizzie There's only grass in that run because I put it up yesterday - I will move it around in the week or two that they are in isolation so that it re-grows, but all the lawn is lovely thick grass. The main, big run is all Aubiose on slabs. I am down to one blue egg layer now (pure breed Araucana bantam) so wanted to increase the coloured layers. Their heads are up in that photo because they'd just come out of the Eglu, and were looking all around. They are quite nervy at the moment, so I will start the handling very early and get them used to it.

Mollydog
They are pretty girls they are very regal. I have some Cotswold legbars that lay blue eggs, some burford browns that lay deep brown eggs and my vorwerks lay pure white eggs. I'm a teacher and give the class star of the week a blue egg....they love it!
The Dogmother
I've always had a mix of egg colours too, all of them bantams. These should be pretty hardy as both breeds in the cross are good, strong layers.
