Groovychook
I was having a mooch on Pinterest and came across this idea; http://www.craftstylish.com/item/33825/how-to-sew-a-fabric-bowl/page/all Such a good idea for using up all your left over bits of fabric I'm thinking of using piping cord and making some place mats! It would be nice to make a rug but I wouldn't be able to squash all the excess bulk through my machine... it would have to be a very small rug
Valkyrie
Interesting, when I was going to quilt classes many moons ago that was one of the courses - another one was making fabric beads - I have no idea how that was done! I suppose you could always start on the inside and gradually circle outwards in the machine? I rather like the idea of making a s"Ooops, word censored!" basket to hold the fabric s"Ooops, word censored!"s in! Or little bags that can be hung up. Olly
Wow - I wonder if that is as easy as the tutorial makes it look! What a great idea, I hate throwing out s"Ooops, word censored!"s and I have got a hexagonal paper piecing project on the go which uses some of them. Like you, Plum, I love the idea of a bowl to hold the s"Ooops, word censored!"s for future bowls!
Groovychook
Yes, it might be one of the most frustrating things ever in practice. I thought that if I used piping cord, at least it wouldn't be too springy! Loving the idea for making a bowl to hold more s"Ooops, word censored!"s in
Plum
Was not me was Valkyrie Olly. It's funny I just finished making one but not with handles love that. I use synthetic twisted washing line from Poundland. I've bought a cotton line to dye rather than cover with fabric not sure how it'll turn out. For a rug you could do it by hand? Maybe.... Groovychook
For a rug you could do it by hand? Maybe.... Could do, but I liked the idea of using my machine. Think I'll stick to my place mats for now! I've seen a similar idea using crochet and washing line to make bowls. Maybe I could use chunky piping cord and crochet a rug using the same method
Plum
Perhaps once the Christmas swap is done we could do a bowl swap
Groovychook
That's a nice idea! I might have a bit of spare time after Christmas
