Alis girls
Some years back I cut my left thumb badly and needed stitches . Long story short ended up with an infection and a lot of cracking of jokes by my patients who thought it hilarious esp as I tell em to be careful when handling sharp knives. I cut it to the bone and nearly passed out Today cut same thumb not so bad but wouldnt stop bleeding. three plasters later its now stopped. Not so deep but like any cut to a digit bleeds like hell. Waiting for OH to notice plaster then I will get a talking to re knife danger................ oh dear
soapdragon
Ouch...hope its feeling less stingy now. Also trust the 'knife safety' lecture is lighthearted! Its easy enough to do though...its a family joke that I should NEVER be allowed to handle knives and I have loads of scars on my hands - strangely enough all on the left hand (I am right handed!) Just before last Christmas I was slicing baguettes ...stupidly not using a chopping board but holding them in my left hand whilst wielding the bread knife in my right. Managed to cut a fair way through the top of my left little finger so got my sister, who was visiting, to run me down to the village surgery. They said they couldn't stitch it there and then so advised A&E. I declined (we had a houseful of guests) and got them to steri strip it once it had stopped bleeding, which worked beautifully! I now had a lovely neat scar and very little feeling in the top of the finger There seem to be a fair smattering of plasters on the GBBO ....its obviously all the nerves! Alis girls
Are we related? Mines like left hand too. OH said "you're intent on removing that thumb aren't you" long lecture followed and interrogation on which knife etc. Was I up to date with tetanus? Blah blah
Blackrocksrock
I am lethal with any sharp knives and my OH knows now not to sharpen them for me - I do it myself as I am so bad when he does them really sharp.
Valkyrie
A few years ago we adopted a pig and when the time came the meat was sent to us. OH wanted to butcher it for the most part himself (I blame Hugh Fearlessly Eatsitall). He bought some really fantastic equipment to do the job. And this was part of mine. Add disinfectant and rubber gloves which he wore to keep the wounds - yes, he cut himself more than once - dry. Luckily no stitches required, although I still have steri-strips in my box of tricks. Sorry it's a bit blurred, I was giggling uncontrollably at the time!
