New saucepan advice please

Recommended Posts

I have the perfect pan for you! But not sure if you would be able to get it in the UK.

It's called Ballarini AltaCucina 2800. It's a semi professional line and can be used on gas, in the oven and you can just stick it in the dishwasher.

It has a granite coating and a metal handle. The granite coating is useable with metal utensils.

I bought my stainless steel Prestige saucepans from a friend who'd been given them as a wedding present but didn't want them.

That was at least twenty years ago, probably nearer 25! the wooden handles are showing signs of wear but otherwise they're as good as new. I don't put them through the dishwasher but they clean up really easily. Sorry, not much help to you but I would always buy stainless steel, I have a couple of others of similar vintage.

I have Prestige stainless steel copper bottom saucepans which I got as a wedding present 40 years ago and they are used daily and still going strong.

I think things were better made then and certainly built to last.

Sad that things aren't made so well these days.

I might be after a new toaster and kettle too ......

One that actually toasts both sides  and a quiet kettle ....

My mum gave me one of her prestige pans when I left home and I bought the Boots version in 2 sizes at the same time that was 30 years ago and one of them is now with my ED and saw her through uni. The others are still going although not regularly used now that I have my Stellar ones. I also have a lovely large Stellar tea pot which I lusted after for many years.
