Luvachicken
I'm after some new saucepans. I've managed to almost melt the handle on my smallest one, where it meets the pot itself. Some of my other handles are heading the same way. I'm after ones that can can be used with metal utensils. Any ideas on what to go for on a gas hob ? Cat tails
I have the perfect pan for you! But not sure if you would be able to get it in the UK. It's called Ballarini AltaCucina 2800. It's a semi professional line and can be used on gas, in the oven and you can just stick it in the dishwasher. It has a granite coating and a metal handle. The granite coating is useable with metal utensils.

Olly
I bought my stainless steel Prestige saucepans from a friend who'd been given them as a wedding present but didn't want them. That was at least twenty years ago, probably nearer 25! the wooden handles are showing signs of wear but otherwise they're as good as new. I don't put them through the dishwasher but they clean up really easily. Sorry, not much help to you but I would always buy stainless steel, I have a couple of others of similar vintage. mullethunter
I'm following this too as the rivets rusted through and the handle fell off our biggest pan.
Blackrocksrock
I have hackman pans bought in 1990 when we moved here - great stainless steel pans with a thick base - even cooking and still look shiny and fresh. They were good then and I now see the prices are sky high!!
jasperaliceuk
We have Le Creuset stainless steel. Love them.
Grandmashazzie
I have Prestige stainless steel copper bottom saucepans which I got as a wedding present 40 years ago and they are used daily and still going strong.
Luvachicken
I have Prestige stainless steel copper bottom saucepans which I got as a wedding present 40 years ago and they are used daily and still going strong. I think things were better made then and certainly built to last. Sad that things aren't made so well these days. I might be after a new toaster and kettle too ...... One that actually toasts both sides and a quiet kettle ....
Grandmashazzie
Let me know Luvachicken I would love one that does that. I think your right re durability, it's a disposable world. The pots and my ironing board are the only presents I still have. My OH has threatened to throw it out but I keep it and replace the cover.
