Chickabee
I have just seen a Humming bird bee (moth). Never seen anything like it before, truly beautiful. Going back in garden to see if it's still there
Charlottechicken
Just googled, wow, what an interesting insect! Looks like there was a survey on them last year, not sure if it is still going. Which county are you in Chickabee? Wonder if there are any here in Worcestershire?
Cat tails
They are amazing! Only seen them three times myself. First time on the balcony of a flat on the fifth floor when I was a kid. Lucky you! Hope you see it again!

Luvachicken
Strange that, I saw one today too It wouldn't keep still long enough. It was buzzing around my runner beans.
Chickabee
I've never seen one before. Keep waiting for it to come back
Luvachicken
I've never seen one before. Keep waiting for it to come back Me neither. Bit sad it didn't go on anything, it just hovered around. I wish I'd spotted it sooner because it might have been on something and kept still so I could have a closer look. Think I also spotted an elephant hawk moth today too. It was hiding in my chicken apron and fell out as I went to put it on
Cinnamon
We get them a lot here - they absolutely LOVED my Lavender plants this year. I tried to take a photo, but they are fast movers. We had 7 on one plant at one count - truly fabulous! The wildlife is just fascinating here. We have Natterjack toads, Swallowtailed butterflies, Deer, Lizards & Golden Oreils in the garden all the time. There are Boar too, but they stay in the woods. Never seen so many beautiful & fascinating butterflies & insects too. The Hummingbird Moths have an endless fascination for me
The Dogmother
Will have to watch out for them at OH's as he has lots of different types of bee
Valkyrie
We get them occasionally, but not every year. Lovely little things. Edited to add - that's the moths. The little hummingbird hoverflies are also cute and we get them a lot. They do love lavender indeed.
