Luvachicken
So in the last few hours a load more snow has come. At lunch time today, I swept off the cube run roof, to let in more light. About half an hour ago, hubby called me to see the snow. I have never, in my life, seen such whopper flakes. They are about an inch and a half across. The cube run roof is deeper in snow than before and on the cube itself the snow is laying on the air vents. I'm just wondering if the snow will meet together and block the air vent at the front. I can't see what's going on at the back at the moment. Will they be ok if some of the air vents get blocked ? Although very impressive flakes, I am going right off the snow, and typically my school didn't have a snow today.
ajm200
We just looked out and said the same. The flakes are huge and coming down fast. Almost as as heavy as the height of the storm in the early hours. I cleared it all earlier and theirs another few inches now. Going to clear it again before bed. There are vents of true side and back too Loving my long handled brush atm Edited February 1, 2019 by ajm200

mullethunter
My Cube has quite big gaps at the bottom of the back door above the trays (I actually don’t like it because I think it’s too much of a fraught around them when they’re sleeping) - I thought that was normal and if so would probably provide adequate ventilation even if the top ones were blocked. ajm200
There’s a big vent in the side too. Wouldn’t bother going out there yet. Cleared mine minutes ago and there is another inch on it. When we first got it we had 7 inches of snow overnight with 5 large chickens in it and they were fine
The Dogmother
I wouldn't worry too much, but if it concerns you, then pop out and sweep it off at some stage. My cube runs have big clear tarps bungee hooked over them - the tarps are long enough to be pulled over the cube too if the weather is really bad. They don't impede the ventilation though. Luvachicken
Thanks all for the reassurance. It's not looking to bad at the moment.
Luvachicken
All was well when I let them out this morning. Hubby and I used all the extra snow on the run roof to add to our snowman we built
ajm200
Good to hear! The snow clears all sorts of gunk out of the drains in mine and I thought they were clear so that it was a bonus
