Poorly chicken

Just moved my chickens from a small Eglu on the ground to an Eglu Cube, raised off the ground.  I had to lift my silkies into their new bed tonight.  Can they really climb up those ladders by themselves?  I’m hoping they will learn, as I’ve also bought the automatic door and this will be a waste of time if I still have to put them to bed each night because they cannot climb their steps!! If they don’t manage to pick it up, I guess I’ll have to remove the legs.

I read that as ‘have to remove THEIR legs’ 😳 Don’t do that!!!

It seems that Silkies are often a bit slow to learn but I’m sure they’ll get it in the end.

Err.. perhaps omlet do a lift!

Some people build a wooden ramp but I put pipe cleaner insulation round the rungs to give them greater grip

When my Pekins first moved in, they couldn't do the cube ladder either.

Hubby made them a new one that goes over the top of the original one.

There are no gaps for them to fall through either.
