Hellcat
Great news! Well done. Have you started introducing food groups again yet?
red
Well done Thalia - you are doing fantastically well!! I've not been on the forum for a while and was really pleased to log in and see how well you've been doing. My progress has slowed down a little - partly due to having a week off work with a couple of birthdays and parties which has meant eating ice cream, clotted cream and other naughties - oh not to mention several healthy glasses of vino!! Anyway I am still at a loss of just over 3 stones so I'm happy. As yet the weight loss has been on a no exercise basis so I am going to have a few strict weeks and start doing a bit of exercise to take things up a gear over the summer. Well done ! Chicken on a mission
I'm so glad that things are continuing in the right direction for you Red You're doing all the foody bits I will need to learn in September/October time Between us we seem to be getting it right. We could do with pooling our strengths for the perfect result because I have gone down the increased activity in my daily life rather than exercise route although I do a bit of toning too. This is working really well and means that I don't even have to think about exercise I have lost a tad over 3 stone and have 3 stone left to lose to take me to a BMI of 22. I have no chest so this should be about right for me although it isn't set in stone. If I look too thin (*cough cough*) or it isn't enough then I'll adjust accordingly. Life is just soooooooooooo good at the moment. Today was a bit of a sad day as Esme's nursery did a little goodbye show and the parents and teachers were all in floods of tears. I hate to think what it will be like tomorrow as that is actually ther last day. Having done so much voluntary work there I feel like part of the furniture and the staff feel more like friends. Esme is not so bothered and can;t wait to start at her new school which is good. I have been compiling all my eBay listing for my old clothes as we really need the money this month. Even though I have been sat on the lappy for the past 5 hours I have still managed to clock up over 11,500 steps on the pedometer. How is everyone else getting on
Hellcat
11500 on the pedometer?!?! I have to go out for an hour and twenty minutes fast walking to do that!! How do you find the time? Well done!
Eyren
Oooh, another girlie thread for me to spend ages catching up with and then joining in Firstly, big congrats to Thalia and everyone else that's fighting the Big fight - I admire your dedication! One of my colleagues at a previous job went on an LL-style diet after an accident and extended hospital stay had made her pile on the weight, and I thought at the time I'd hate to have to give up the healthy foods I enjoy as well as the 'naughty' ones. I don't have a lot to lose compared to you guys, but the prospect of having to resort to such drastic measures is enough to get me at least partially motivated! Like some of you here, I mostly eat healthily and get a reasonable amount of exercise - I don't have much of a sweet tooth and it's a 1 mile walk to the work bus stop every weekday morning - but it only takes a few excess calories on a regular basis to make the weight creep upwards as the years go by Red wine and Sainsburys lemon-and-coriander Macadamia and Cashew Nut Mix are my downfall I've been making more of an effort in the last four months, partly because I'm getting married in October, but mostly because I hit the dreaded 11 stone mark in late March That may not sound a lot, but I'm only 5'2" and small-boned, and according to my high-tech scales my BMI was over the 30 mark I'm back down to 10st 10, but I need to lose a fair bit more to reach a sensible BMI. I've gained some inspiration from "The GI Plan" by Azmina Govindji and Nina Puddefoot and also "Fat Girl Slim" by cookery writer and restaurateur Ruth Watson, but I found that I couldn't stick to the low-GI regime whilst I was also getting my organic veg box (too many high-GI starchy veg every week). I've cancelled the box now, so all I have to do is stop OH from cooking his delicious, nutritious but regrettably high-carb pasta and couscous specials* Anne * Not both in the same meal, I hasten to add! Chicken on a mission
How is everybody getting on? It is my last meeting for the foundation stage on Tuesday and my 100 days will be completed on Monday 4th September. I'm hoping to be about 11 1/2 stone by then and I need to be 11st 5lbs to be at the top end of my healthy weight. I have lost 4st 2lbs so far and my doctor is delighted with my progress and I quite chuffed too I had my regular check up (compulsory every 4 weeks) for blood pressure etc and I am now well within the normal range on the blood pressure so no need to the tablets they were talking about sticking me on before all this I suspect that I will be continuing on the food packs for about another 6-7 weeks until I get to my ideal weight and then I start management which slowly reintroduces all foods (even chocolate in the later stages) and keeping a food diary etc so that I learn to eat properly. I was initially concerned that I would give up too early on the diet because I now fit in with the rest of the population even though I am still overweight. Then I got worried that I would keep doing this too long and end up disgustingly thin and unhealthy. This is a doctor monitored programme he won't sign my medical for me to continue so I needn't worry about that. One thing that did confuse me was why I was a size 14 at a stone heavier than the last time I was a 14 and looking on the internet I found out that shops have resized their clothes so a size 14 is what was a size 16. That explains that then I really have a bee in my bonnet that womens clothes sizes vary so greatly from shop to shop. Why can't they be like the blokes where it is much easier and you know where you stand Rant over, talk to me about how you are all getting on as I feel like I have hijacked the thread
AnnieP
Thalia, your progress is truly amazing! Congratulations! Keep going now the end is in sight. I know its so easy to give up early when you have done so well.... I really do need to loose 2 stone, but lack motivation, will power and courage, so I think you are amazing! Well done and keep going!
The Dogmother
You're doing sooo well Thalia, your cozzie even looks a bit baggy now! What is even better then the photos is that you sound miles more positive and are getting out and about more with your little one. We're all rooting for you! Chicken on a mission
Latest progress shots are on the blog. Make sure you are not of a nervous disposition before viewing Final weigh in for the initial 100 days is on Monday. I'm hoping for another 3 lbs this week to take me to a nice 4 1/2 stone loss. I think another 1 1/2 stone should see me slim but not too skinny and take me into the 23's on my BMI. Mind you if the weight comes off in the wrong places I'll have to stop before then otherwise I'll just look daft. Not a lot I can do to MAKE the weight come off from where I want it to unfortunately
Louise
Wow Thalia what a difference you must be so chuffed with yourself
The Dogmother
Bloomin' heck Thalia, that's fantastic! You look so good What sort of exercise are you doing? Targetted exercise can help to shift from problem areas if you do the right stuff. I am dead impressed with your work - you've far more will power than I have. Big hugs to you XX
Chicken on a mission
I'm doing some gentle cardio (bike and walking) and using my resistence band to target the troublesome bits although because things have been so hectic I really have neglected this of late Someone has also borrowed my slendertone belt to try for a couple of weeks and 6 weeks on they still have it! Must ask for that back again as at least I'll be able to do that at the same time as I do the ironing! Saggy belly is a bit of a problem for me because my skin can't shrink at the rate my body is shedding fat but not as bad as I thought it would be Never mind, I can see that is is shrinking back and won't be a problem a few months down the line. Stretch marks I can put down to having had a child I'm happy and have got to dash because Esme is demanding we go out on the tag-a-long bike, that thing is turning out to be a godsend
