Rabbieboy
Two of my little girls( I hope they are girls) have moved home. The little black Shetland was being picked on a lot and would stay in the Cube all day then jump out at night when the others went in, she would then try to sleep beside the wheel of the Cube and we had to catch her and pop her inside when it got dark. She did go in the Cube herself one night but since then its been a pain, sometimes one of the others would come out and make a fuss around her and go back in again. Our neighbour felt sorry for her so she went out and bought a hen house with run and has now adopted the wee Sheltland and the white RIR X. They have settled in already, they were let out at 6.30 this morning and they have been eating and drinking since. We did think the Shetland was going to pop her clogs through stress and not eating and drinking but it looks like she will be fine now. We are left with 4 big hens, 3 chicks, 1 of which is a cockerel, 2 quails and 23 quaills eggs in the incubator, I wonder if I can convince the boss to let me have a couple of Brahma's to replace the 2 chicks that moved out. Rabbieboy
Rab, what's the RIR crossed with? - cos if its Light Sussex and it's white, it's a boy The mum was a RIR X Wyandotte and the dad was a New Hampshire Red. I did point out to the neighbour that we were not 100% sure of the sex yet but it has a girls name now so it must be a girl. We hatched a ginger and white one out the same batch of eggs and it looks more like a boy. This is a recent photo, aronund 12 weeks old at this stage This is the ginger one at the same age.
