Has anyone else filled their car up with liquid gold

Recommended Posts

At least I guessed that's what it must have been.

£1.02 PER LITRE

It was .94 2 weeks ago.

Flipping worlds gone barmy. My Mondeo was nearly empty and it cost £56 to fill the tank.

Tomorrow a family of 3 will be going out cramped and uncomfortable in Mum's KA - we can't afford comfort if it means paying that price.

I am definately getting a diesel next time, I've 90% decided to not have a spanking new Mondeo but a secondhand Jag (just an X type, same underneath different on top!). Now I think maybe I'll need that car Jeremy Clarkson was driving on last weeks top gear - you know the tiddly one that did 100 mpg. I could get a trailer to sit James in....

its 107  at our local garage and we are in rural Devon.

It makes me so :evil: that a local petrol station can charge so much when the same brand of petrol in the "big city" (40 mile round trip away) can be cheaper!!:evil:

We even got cheaper petrol in a motorway service station on the M5 near Birmingham on tuesday!

And we have very little public transport.

We have very little public transport too, the bus comes once an hour and finishes quite early. I can get it all the way to work apparantly, a kid is living round the corner at the moment and getting the bus to school. Thing is I would need help getting all my stuff on and off and then a wheelbarrow to carry it up and down the road to school. Normally I just send a couple of kids donw to the car to get it.

I paid £1.01 per litre of DIESEL this week!

I know its just as expensive but a diesel x type would get about 45mpg and my petrol mondeo (with the same engine as a petrol jag) is getting about 28mpg.

Public transport Chelsea. We have to book our bus a week in advance

OH has a diesel Freelander Beast thing. £1.06 a litre!!!!

It cost shim over £60 to fill up! And he gets very little mileage to the gallon.

i pay £1.02/03 a litre for unleaded and think that is disgusting.

I have seen it cheaper at the airport and motorway service stations!

A deputy head at my old school drove a HUGE diesel Mercedes. With NO MODIFICATION (and he was a techy petrol head) he ran it for most of the year of vegtable oil. He communted from ~Chelmsford to Billericay all week then went home to BIRMINGHAM every weekend.

He had to use diesel in the depths of winter. We called his car the chip van - cos it smelled like the chip van when he started it up but he reckoned he was saving a fortune and paying the tax. I reckoned he was probably the best customer for veg oil down at bargain city in Birmingham....

Perhaps that's what I need.

Hate to say this but 2 weeks ago I had a little holiday in Spain and had a day trip to Gibralter.....................petrol and diesel were going at 55p per litre :!::!::!::!: It just makes you wonder is WHY :!::!::!:

Its 104p here in sunny Slough

We were on the Costa del Sol last week & my parents took Alexander for a day trip to Gibraltar last Friday... where did you stay? We stayed at the MacDonald Hotel Villacana resort between Marbella & Estapona. (didn't pay MacDonald prices, we booked privately & booked our own flights)

We are over a £ up here too now but I have a diesel Yaris 1.4 5 door and it gets over 60 mpg and the yearly tax is only £35.00 as it is so very green and I love my YAris.

My 2003 1.0 3 door one gets 50mpg and £115 road tax. It is literally green in colour though

It was under a £ here, not sure it was slightly more expensive last week I think. I can get a full tank for £35ish.
