It might cure my fear of speeds over 30mph. Will you have to wear an all in one boiler suit with your name on the back and a helmet! Hope we get lots of photo's as you whizz past at 100mph! Have fun! Charlottechicken
I'd love to do off-road rallying I get that effect driving round the streets of Birmingham in my old Metro Clare. You never get above about 25 mph, loads of gear changes, lively suspension and pot-holes a-plenty. Some days it is almost fun, keeps you on your toes too Paola, have a great day! You have to wear a helmet in all of the cars, which is ok as I have my own. You only have to wear a boiler suit in the FPA (F1 car sort of). I do not know if I will have a go in that because it has a dog leg gear change and they are meant to be a real pain
Popcorn
Hmmmm......I was ok until you mentioned the dog leg. Then I got lost.
Joojoo
Ooh have a fab time. My ex OH had a rallying day for his 30th and said it was great fun. Just remember when you are on your way back that you are not on a race track anymore and watch out for speed cameras
Paola
Woooooo, hooooooo! I am still buzzing from yesterday. I had the most fantastic time. I had a bit of a shaky start in the morning. Our group drew the short straw. We were the first group to use the FPA (F1) car. It was my first time ever on the track in a car. You have signs to tell you when to brake and cones to aim for on the apex of the corner. I just could not get into the grove of driving it. The track was wet and quite long. I found it hard to remember it, so you would think you knew where you are and then a corner would come up that you were not expecting! I also managed to spin it. We then did off road after that in Land Rovers, which was great. Amazing cars. The next car was a Jag, which I scared myself in and suffered motion sickness The instructor is telling you to go as fast as you can towards a bend when your brain is telling you to brake!! I did not complete my stint in that one! We then had lunch. My stomach could only manage vegetables! One of the other chaps in the group was really very sick. By the time lunch had finished I felt much better. The Caterhams were next. I sat that one out. I was saving myself for the Porsche and Clio Cup! The Clio was next, what a great little car. It took me a couple of laps to warm up and then the red mist came down but unfortunately you only got about five laps in it. My fav the Porsche was next, I want one. It has paddle gear change. So when you are accelerating you just pull the paddle to go up a gear without raising your foot off the accelerator. I hope that Father Christmas will put one in my stocking this year! Lastly the Jaguar XKR. Fantastic car, again with the paddle gear change. I had to finish a few laps early because the motion sickness caught me up!! It was then all back for tea and medals! The only pain of the day was the 3.5 hour drive back. OH in the Caterham, just about to go out for the first time. He had a very good female instructor who races the FPA cars Me with the new love of my life The fun little Clio Cups Jaguar XKR
Popcorn
Wow, Paola, what a fantastic day you had in all of those cars! How hard was it to drive at 60mph on the way home?! great pics - the cars look fab. I'd suffer from motion sickness too, I only have to turn round in the car and I feel sick I'd love a go at that though
