Murdo
Wasn't sure where to post this so steered clear of chickens. The Managing Director seems to have developed a positively spooky sixth sense about when there's an egg to be collected. Our Miss Pepperpot has had 2 months off and came back into lay at the weekend with a rather long odd shaped egg. Yesterday the Managing Director went down to the run because she felt there ought to be an egg (I picked one up first thing) and there it was. Today she suddenly thought about it mid afternoon and got it still warm. Given the Eglu is at the end of the garden she can't be hearing them hit the ground so I'm guessing she's just got chicken - telepathy. Anyone else notice this happening ? Guest
I reckon she's planting the eggs.
Sheilaz
It's a girl thing...we don't miss a thing! We even know what you're thinking. Before you think it sometimes! Good to hear from you Murdo, it's been a while...all well, I hope? Let me introduce you to Graham; Murdo...Graham, Graham...Murdo. There, you may need that, when the majority here use our 6th senses On a serious note...I find I'm in tune a bit like that, & it is a spooky feeling. Sheilaz
I was going to say "he's an awfully nice chap, but a bit naughty sometimes!" but it's difficult in type to get the voice right Then, I couldn't bring myself to use the word nice. I don't mean he isn't nice (see what I mean about type) just that I've been taught not to use the word "nice", I should find an alternative word. He really is an awfully splendid fellow..... Mrs Frugal
Perfect, Sheila!! He's also a bad boy and gets a slap every now and then to keep him in line!! Welcome back Murdo! The egg radar is definitely a woman thing, by the way.
Cate in NZ
I was just wondering who was being described as the wonderfully splendid fellow- is that Murdo or Graham . I'm sure it's a pretty good description of both though, although when we're talking about Graham I'd add in about being a rotten flirt, bit coy about his pants, and a ever so slightly dodgy sense of humour. A splendid fellow though, nonetheless Great to see you back Murdo, it has been a while. How's the wormery going? Sorry, that should be in gardens No idea about the egg radar I'm afraid, sadly if it's a real female intuition thing it's all bypassed me . My excuse is that I'm generally at work when the laying's in process, I just get home to a chilly collection of eggs i the nesting box. Sounds like the Managing Director has a fine-tuned empathy with the hens
Guest
A 'rotten flirt'??? You *have* to be kidding - I think I'm a fantastic flirt! Hey Murdo - I've got a wormery too. My worms seem to have gone on strike though....

I've done that a few times. I find myself apologising and hurriedly putting the egg port cover back on.
Guest
I apologise too, much to the amusement of my next door neighbour who is always out with his pigeons in the morning. It just compounds the fact in his mind that I am slightly mad!
