feemcg
I went out to lock the girls up last night. The ducks and chicks hadn't gone in the pink eglu yet and were making a bit of a racket. When I shone the torch they went in and I could only see the ducks and Rosie so checked in the cube and was sure I could see Bonnie tucked up with the big girls. I thought it was nice that she'd been brave enough to go in the cube (and the big ones had let her) but it was a shame for Rosie on her own with the ducks . Anyway, I got up this morning and there was Bonnie pacing up and down outside the run - the daft chick had been out all night in -4! I feel like a very bad mummy, but for all those who worry about their chooks being warm enough snuggled up in an eglu, she survived fine and didn't turn into an icicle
Laura & CTB
Glad she's ok - I'm sure she'll forgive you after a bowl of nice warm porridge or two

Richard
Silly girl You really shouldn't call Fee silly. I don't think she is. I thought Georgie was out for the night a while ago, but she had sneaked into the Cube with the others (she normally sleeps separately in her own coop for one). I don't think the cold is the problem, its the chance of predators. I'm very glad she's OK - I do worry that mine might get themselve shut out somehow. Oh well ... you just have to do your best eh? Jules.
I had a senior moment last night. I locked the girls in their run at 3.30 as we had to take Ethan to a birthday party in Warrington for 4pm (right by M&S & IKEA- eek). When we got home at 6.30 I said to hubby I need to go & lock the eglu door- he said I'd already done it, so I didn't bother to check. I've just been to let them out of the eglu & there they are- in the run! I hope they wern't too cold last night, I am normally really concientious about locking them up in their bedroom at night, but last night I was just I'll have to blame hubby- he's older than me..... farrowy
Must be the christmas season - and chooks want a night out on the town as well We went away overnight recently and our neighbours very kindly agreed to shut the eglu door for us at night/open it in the morning. However one of the girls had got out and so only one was shut in - apparently the missing chook turned up on another neighbours patio the next morning!!! She went running up to them and let them carry her home!!

chocchick
Silly girl Glad she is okay, not too frosty I'm fairly sure Debs meant the chicken was silly I remember when I went away and OH was looking after the chickens. Katy went missing and it turned out she spent the night between the eglu run and cover and emerged the next morning much to OH's relief.
