Popcorn
Sarah, I have picked up one cold after another just lately. Last week I came home from work feeling fine and by 9pm I was blowing my nose, shivering and coughing - all in the space of 4 hours. It last 4 or 5 days and was gone just as quickly as it came. I couldn't take anything for it being pregnant, but I would have given my right arm to be able to take a decongestant at night to unblock my sinuses. I had no sleep at all. Many sympathies, especially with the big day looming. I hope you start to pick up after some rest and hot lemony water x
Guest
just found this http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070220150121AAZWo68 mines always in my left shoulder and goes away if i do a really big burp but i just can't summon up a big burp today and the pain is getting worse. I have had it for a few years on and off and just put it down to wind. Better mention it to my GP
Egluntyne
Could be a thousand and one things, but gall bladder probs can cause referred pain to the shoulder blade area. Don't take this as a diagnosis. Please see your GP if you are worried.
feemcg
I've just finished a Lemsip - head thumping since yesterday, eyes and nose streaming , hopefully be over it in the next couple of days, by which time I'll have passed it on to wee Anna for Christmas day

Snowy
It's a common pain to get after having a laparoscopy - because of the air pumped into the abdomen becoming trapped under the diaphragm. And yes, for some reason, having a good burp helps get rid of it! We used to give a ginger syrup diluted with warm water, or magnesium trisilicate mixture diluted with warm water. Really shifts it! Snowy
Magnesium trisilicate mixture is available from a pharmacy, and is dead cheap as it is not a brand name. Is a bit like milk of magnesia but a quarter of the price. Not seen the ginger syrup, but anything ginger is good for digestion, as is peppermint. But the mag trisil really works wonders! One day when MIL was visiting she had trapped wind, so I gave her a dose. Poor woman nearly exploded! Sorry Poet, forgot to add, hope you get some relief soon - I know it can be very painful Edited December 20, 2007 by Guest

Rona
Hope you all feel better soon. Its just not fair to be feeling ill for Christmas. My OM has got a really nasty dose of man flu at the moment so I am squirting First Defence up my nose in an attempt to avoid catching it - seems to be working so far. And no snogging under the mistletoe either

Cate in NZ
Sarah, sounds miserable, poor you . I'd take the lemsip (and I swear by a good dose of honey, lemon, whisky and hot water for a cold ), put your feet up and take it easy, hopefully the cold will pass before Christmas. I thought I was coming down witha cold early part of this week, and I was cursing as I've got the busiest week ever planned, but so far at least I've managed to ward it off, I really haven't got the time to be ill right now,so I sincerely hope that I stay well. Poet, I hope the wind passes soon, it's incredibly painful I know . Shoulder pain can be a sign of abdominal disturbances.........certainly acute shoulder pain can be an indicator of ectopic pregnancy , but it is common after abdominal surgery as well.
