New home wanted for lovely lonely Lottie.

Recommended Posts

We would love to find our dearest Lottie a new home as her three friends have been killed by a fox. She is very tame and happy to be handled and approx 19 weeks old. Unfortunately the fox is persistant and killed our gingernut Delilah whilst we were in the garden with them. He comes by most days and subsequently lovely Lottie has no life outside the run. Please can you help. We live in Chislehurst Kent and would love to see her happy and free again. Please call tracy on...

I'm sooo sorry you have had such a BAD time with the fox. We used to have a fox come to our garden but I have not seen it since we put a foxwatch ultrasonic device in.

Have you decided to give up chicken keeping :?: That is such a shame, but I understand. It must be awful to have one of your girls taken even when you are in the garden

Oh, poor Lottie :(

You don't know how tempted I am, 2 eglus already and only 5 chickens, plenty of space to accomodate another :D . And Chislehurst is literally just down the road, 10 mins or so.

I suppose I ought to run it by hubby first though.

Not that we need another chicken- I can't get through the eggs we're getting as it is.

Lottie's gorgeous, but how could she possibly not be :D I'd been slightly concerned that she'd look exactly like Zola and that I'd not be able to tell them apart, but her feathers are darker and with less golden neck markings than Zola. She's very friendly and tame. a lovely bird.

I did feel quite guilty even thinking about taking her from Tracy, who quite obviously loves her, and is only letting her go because of their terrible experience with a predatory fox.

We have agreed with Tracy to take Lottie, probably sometime next week, but Tracy's children have been away for 1/2 term, and quite naturally she'd like the children to be able to say their goodbyes, and also see where Lottie will be living. So they'll bring her round and just check that they're happy with her new home.

It's quite nice that they live fairly local to us, son's school isn't far from where they live, so I can let them have some of Lottie's eggs back, dropping by with the occasional 1/2 dozen will be quite easily achieved after the school run every so often, and if Tracy or her children want to pop by and see how she's getting on they'll be able to do that.

I'll let you all know how we get on :D

Sorry to hear your sad news. I really feel for you. I too have a Lottie, a Ginger Nut ranger. I was really excited as she laid her first egg today. Your news really tugged at my heart strings, I think foxes are every chicken owners nightmare.

I hope you have had some luck in re-homing her, she sounds wonderful.

:D Well done, Kate! Lottie couldn't wish for a kinder adoption, so I hope Tracy finds that reassuring after such a rotten time of it.

Thanks for rescuing me from temptation too, a lot of us will be delighted with the happy ending.

Does OH know yet, or will he just think he's mis-counted the chooks!:wink:

Brilliant that you are so nearby. Best wishes for next week.
