theherd123
OH & I were given a beautiful box of chocolates for Christmas from a good friend of ours but the problem is all the chocs i like i have eaten from the top layer and was about to pick from the layer below but the OH was horrified! Is it ok if there are chocs you dont like on the top layer, you can pick from the next layer instead? (I would just like you to know that when he nipped out of the room i did pinch some from the 2nd layer)
Mrs Frugal
Shock! No !! You always eat the entire top layer first and then progress to the next layer, eating all the ones you like best quickly to avoid OH taking them .
Guest
i eat them from the top layer in order of likeness, the ones i like the least i still eat, but last. Usually, the only ones left will be coffee flavoured ones which i bin or DH eats them. Then and ONLY then do I touch the 2nd layer! I thought this was going to be a lesson in chicken manners! Christian
I'm afraid I don't like chocolate, so can't help you Em. I am a chocolate layer rebel and like to break from the norm. I eat the second layer first!!
Ain't Nobody Here
I can't break into the second layer till the first is gone . But then, I eat any chocolates whether I like them or not. They're chocolate, after all . Nothing to stop you hiding the whole second layer and saying in a shocked tone "honestly, chocolates aren't what they used to be, I'm sure you used to get a second layer with these" . Won't work if he's already had a peek below the top layer though.
Guest
i have been known to eat one from the 2nd layer and then move the one from the top layer into its place, so it looks like the 2nd layer hasn't been touched
bronze
I used to be the same as Kate when it was just me. Now chocolate is a major trading commodity in our house so we would have layer each and do swapsies on the ones we each dont like. DH likes less of them than me so he tends to eat all the ones he has then got that he likes and I get any of the ones he couldnt swap at the end. Which means I always win

chelsea
I eat from whichever layer tickles my fancy, even if there are loads on the top layer left I would progress to the second without another thought! Im not a huge chocolate fan, I love white chocolate, but most of the gifts given to us at Christmas were "continental chocs" so im very careful how I eat them as you never quite know what you are going to get....therefore if i dont like one after ive bitten into it....it goes back in the box for hubby!! Guest
I'm shocked at all you lower-layer lifters! You should NEVER, EVER start on the second layer, until all the first layer is finished - it's the chocolate law.

The Dogmother
For amusement when we were young, we used to buy my mother a box of assorted chocs and then watch as she tipped them all out, picked out the ones she liked and put them back in the box. All the others were left for whoever wanted them. Phil gets all my chocolates; I'm so not bothered.

Basset
There's no etiquette where chocolate is concerned!!!! Just scoff the one's you like, before anyone else gets them.
Snowy
You should defnitely eat all the top layer before moving onto the second! Pre-children I would start with my least favourite choc, saving the favourite until last. Now I wolf my favourites first before the boys have twigged there is a chocolate box open (or I wait until they are in bed )
The Dogmother
You'l have to read my friends posts on her blog; Emjay bought the most exhorbitantly priced box of Godiva chocolates (she lives in Washington DC) and selectively ate them, boy, does she have etiquette! You just need to go back a couple of posts from the top of the page - what chocolate eating style!
