ubereglu
Wow, that looks really good. I'm tempted to do a nice big run for my hens too and thinking about the measurements we should be able to do it on the little patch of grass by the veg patch! It's just a case of getting Dad to except the idea as me and Mum are all set on the idea! I think ours would end up a similar size except most of it on paving slabs once they'd eaten all the grass from the area. That way I could woodchip that bit and they still have a nice bush. Hmm, all these plans, I really should sketch this out!
MedusA
Wow! What a brilliant run! I love the "special features" too. What a ***** run for your lucky girls. I am so jealous. I have only made the first panel so far
WitchHazel
That looks lovely, and I especially like the toys for the chooks. Lucky girls!

NClaire
That looks fantastic! You have inspired me to improve our chickens' run! What sort of wood did you use? (Pressure treated etc?) And what are the dimensions of the run itself? It looks a perfect size.
Noodle
Very very cool.....roll on some decent weather so we can get on with ours
Ain't Nobody Here
That's such an impressive and imaginative run . Don't let our chickens see it whatever you do, they'll go on strike till they get one .
sparkleeeeee
wow!!, thats a great run. what a great idea of the straw. do they just sit on it or have they had a good rumage?
CatsCube
The run is 2m x 4m and the f rame is made in sections using 2"x2" pressure treated exterior wood (packs of 6 from Wickes) and the roof is polycarboate twin wall in 1m x 2m lengths. Thw Straw bale they like to sit on and have a little kip and sun bathe, they also scratch around on it, it will no doubt become full of bugs for them, and also it provides a bit of an easier climb up into the cube for those less capable of the jump onto the ladder, as the bottom of the ladder rest on it. bronze
Mission accomplised. DH was very impressed by your run and phoned me to say he could do something like that. I knew I could but it was convincing him that we should go ahead on that route. Yay Thank you ps if youre wondering why I want to build one when I've just bought an extension off you its because we'll put my banties in the build with the eglu and will put meat birds in the cube. Theyre bigger so need more space.
CatsCube
Ah yes, I was showing it off and telling him how much better it was, how easy and quick to build and cost of material etc. Hopefully he will be pretty up for the idea now!
