Jeanne
My eglu is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It arrived at 9 50, and is now assembled, with extension. All by myself as well The only problem I have is the pin that sticks the top of the eglu to the bottom. Is it possible to do that on your own, or is it a 2 person job? It can wait till the kids get home from school. I am off to buy chucks now I am soooooooooooooooooooooo chuffed!

Aunty e
I used to give mine a gentle encouragement with my foot to get the bar all the way through, then push the eglu side in with my knee while I got the pin in. Otherwise, another person is useful, yes!
Olly
I have two Eglus, one is easy-peasy, but the other one is an absolute pig - I have to give the black bar a gentle kick, then prop a brick against it to stop it moving, run round the other side and try and get the edge of the gold pin into the hole, and then sort of tug it through. I did try standing astride the Eglu and squeezing but my calf muscles aren't that strong (that's why I was rubbish at horseriding ). Also I thought I might get some funny looks from neighbours! It should be do-able by one person, though. How eggciting - bet you can't wait to get the chickens in there!
Egluntyne
I did try standing astride the Eglu and squeezing but my calf muscles aren't that strong (that's why I was rubbish at horseriding ). Also I thought I might get some funny looks from neighbours! I bet that was a sight to behold! I have one Eglu which is much easier than the other in this way. I too use the boulder trick. Jules.
I kick the black bar in as far as it will go, & then use a foot to press in the other side of the eglu to get the pin in. Sometimes it's easy to do, & others not.
Jeanne
I am glad it wasn`t just me having trouble. I roped in my daughter to help. Maybe it will get easier with time.
Jules.
My eglu was second hand & I noticed the black bar had been twisted a little near the handle side. I twisted it back & it has gone a bit better.
Ain't Nobody Here
I have to push the "pin side" of the eglu quite hard to get the pin in too. One person job though .
Jeanne
I have to push the "pin side" of the eglu quite hard to get the pin in too. One person job though . Every time I tried that, the stupid thing pushed back I will just ask for help, and maybe someone will feel sorry for me and clean the whole thing
The Dogmother
My eglu was second hand & I noticed the black bar had been twisted a little near the handle side. I twisted it back & it has gone a bit better. We get that at the Omlet shows Jules - some little angel always steps on the bar and bends it over. They are quite resilient really. little chickadee
Well............ What did you get, and where are the photos!
chickweed
I push a tent peg against the black bar which holds it firmly, while I secure the locking pin on the other side. Easy when you have done it a couple of times. The lockimg pin gave me a nasty "bite "once, so be careful !

Emma.x I was told they are a Sussex Comet, Black Comet and a Jasmine. I have no idea as I am new to all this. The white one does look very grown up compared to the others, so maybe she will lay soon
