Reikiranf
My Egg Skelter arrived today, I was planning to sneak it into the kitchen and see how long it took DH to notice it, however it arrived while I was at work and he opened it thinking that it was something I'd ordered for our son, but he didn't mind as it really is a work of art, I've got it on a glass shelving unit and it looks great. I was originally planning to get the 12 egg one but Phil emailed me to say that if height wasn't an issue that the 24 egg one looks nicer. I only posted the cheque on Wednesday so was delighted that it arrived so quickly Perhaps it will become the kitchen "must have" of the future, it's so well made, stylish and innovative There was a thread recently asking if anyone owned an original piece of art, I can now say yes and it was only £18.
Ain't Nobody Here
So does that mean the 12 egg takes up the same amount of space, it's just lower in height? Does anyone have a picture of the 12 egg one? I'm thinking I should've gone for that (never having had more than 12 eggs ) but if it takes up the same space, I'll keep the one I've got (I love it however many eggs it holds ). freddie
The 12 and the 24 are the same dimensions, except the 12 is shorter; Cant be any less in diameter or the eggs dont roll, they kind of shoot off!!!

Ain't Nobody Here
Oh I do like my skelter - but there's something missing . I know .... a few nice white eggs
Egluntyne
You've got them on lengthways ANH.....according to the ticket on mine, they should be sideways, so they can roll.
Ain't Nobody Here
I know, but I'm constantly playing with it so sometimes they're like that, sometimes sideways - oh, the hours of fun I've had . (What was that? Did someone say "get a life!" ) Then I had a thought - aren't you supposed to store them pointy end down . Oh no .
Laura & CTB
Then I had a thought - aren't you supposed to store them pointy end down . Oh no . Yes - but when they dont hang about for more than two days it doesnt really matter does it? Thats the problem with my skelter - I'm sure it would look fabulous full up

Ain't Nobody Here
Happy now? (BTW, please ignore "freak egg" - poor Maisie forced that out after 2 softies . The boys don't want to eat it 'cos "it's weird" . It is wrinkly at the end).
Egluntyne
Very happy. Such gorgeous colours. I can't tell which one is the "freak". Am glad to see that you have moved back to Edinburgh.
MedusA
What a lovely range of colours! It also amazes me that my girls' eggs are all different shapes too. Scully does speckly "normal" egg-shaped ones, Treacle's are chestnut brown and long. Toffee's are beige and round (like her). Just thinking how nice they would look on an egg-skelter. Ain't Nobody Here
Go on Medusa, you know you want one . The "freak egg" (named by my boys, not me ) is the long one that's a slightly different green. You can't see the wrinkled end of it. Since then, her eggs have been a much nicer green! New hen news - the farmer I got my girls from has more Columbines (of differing colourings) who are laying sky blue eggs . Going at Easter to pick one . Maybe for my birthday in April. Pretty please to OH. I am waiting for 2 Araucanas so I'm looking forward to pretty eggs too eventually. They would look so nice on an egg-skelter. *sigh*
