AJuff
A farm near me has skylines available! I'd love anothr two hens . . . . what do they look like? Are they flighty?
little chickadee
I think that they vary quite a lot as to what they look like, some have hairstyles and some don't but there doesn't appear to be any way of telling if they are going to lay blue eggs or not. Not sure about flightiness, but I'm sure someone else will be along soon. They are also known as Jasmines and Columbines, so people may be able to let you have photos. AJuff
Are they the same as Columbines? I have a green egg laying columbine at the moment.
Snowy
They are a hybrid based on the legbar. Mine is a Merrydale crested. The name depends on who has bred them! There is usually an 80% chance they will lay a blue egg. This is Bambi. She looks very much like a legbar, often they are different shades of brown, but usually with the crest
Egluntyne
I've read that they are quite skittish.

Guest
I was warned by a breeder that, although beautiful to look at, and laying lovely eggs, they can be extremely flighty and skittish. We passed on getting a couple this week, as I have children and wanted friendly birds that the children can enjoy too.
Lesley
We have three Skylines - two lay blue eggs and one lays a pale cream egg. They are a bit flighty - not as friendly as the others.
CatsCube
I have one, under the name columbine. She was skittish to start with, but started laying and now crouches making things easier. Actaully now she is very friendly as she loves to follow me round, really getting under my feet.
Snowy
Bambi is definitely a bit skittish, bottom of the pecking order. I think if I had less hens she would learn to be more friendly. She does seem to want to come near, but if I put my hand out to her, she does a vertical take off & squeaks Makes me jump, never mind her! Louisdog
We have a cream legbar hen that we had from an egg, and we also have a cream legbar that we have had since 2002 when she was six weeks old. Both are very skittish! Having said that, they will be bribed by food and will come running with the others and eat out of my hand, but they dislike being picked up. Their blue eggs are lovely and so pretty too.
AJuff
I went to collect the new hens today and they're beautiful! One is laying and laid a blue egg in the box on the way home! They both appear to be very friendly and will let you stroke them. Early days though.
