riane
off the top of my head....Barbers Adagio for strings, is very atmospheric or something from Karl Jenkins Mass for the Armed Man..
Egluntyne
Barbers Adagio for Strings would be perfect. It is played in USA at times of tragedy.
One Man Banned
I must be feeling very emotional this evening. Barbers AFS is a favourite piece that I can hardly bear to hear as it reminds me of a much missed family member and we played it at his funeral. Why did I click the link ? It's a very poignant song, I don't know if it affects others in the same way but for me it's emotive and thought provoking music. I just stop and listen to it in it's entirety. I think it would be a good choice for your needs Iwescott. A xx

Mrs Frugal
John Williams music for Schindlers List - - the video is of terrible quality but you can hear the music.
Lesley
I was going to suggest the same as Kate has - the only time I've ever seen the cinema empty silently with grown men weeping as well as women.
bronze
oooh both pieces lovely and haunting. My suggestion was going to be maybe try and get something by a Jewish composer but theres so many it would be hard to choos one with the right style too. Olly
Max Bruch 'Kol Nidrei'? It's a famous arrangement of a Hebrew song, he was not Jewish - he was German, but died in 1920 well before the Third Reich.
bronze
How about Bob Dylan Blowin' in the Wind if you decided to not go for classical He was Jewish and the lyrics are pretty apt how many deaths will it take till he knowsThat too many people have died?
