ali-s
Lidl have lots of special offers on gardening products at the moment. Has anyone ever bought the gardening products before? I was wondering what the quality was like. I will be going on Saturday, just hope they have the items I want still in stock. www.lidl.co.uk
Karen & co.
Hi ali-s, not sure about Lidl as we don't have one! but sister in law thinks it is really good, We have an equivalent - Aldi, and we have just come back from a skiing holiday and kitted us out with socks and gloves from Aldi, OH and youngest got their whole kit from there! and it was fantastic, warm waterproof and best of all, pounds cheaper than anywhere else (thought we should try for corporate sponsorship as team Aldi!!!) clare*
I kitted Ben and myself out with the Aldi ski wear, puts me a step closer to taking the plunge ang going I have a pair of the garden clogs from Lidl actually so does Ben and Paul They are the best thing for the garden sprint in the morning I bought them in there last year. I love shops like this - you get decent stuff at good prices. I know several people who would not step into one, its just pure s"Ooops, word censored!"bery. They do childrens sizes so I might get a pair for Natalie. I like Lidl's bread flour. It makes a lovely loaf.
Hellcat
Lidls gardening stuff is fine. Ian buys it all the time. Try lidls 70% dark chocolate - 49p for 100 grams. Not exactly green and blacks but makes fabulous chocolate brownies (Nigellas recipe - of course!)
Guest
Been in today and bought a lot of the gardening things. Not the big greenhouse poly tunnel thing. But, cloches - that they called mini greenhouses - waterproof hat for when I am up the lottie - kneeling pads of knees not the ones you put on the ground - leather gardening gloves - fork - spade - plastic polytunnel cloches - those thin plastic long ones - 2 bunches of tulips - see picture on my www below - 10 bars of plain continental choc. ..... can't think what else. The clogs are not on sale here until next weekend though.
Cate in NZ
Reviving this thread just to tell anyone that's interested that the Aldi near me is currently stocking organic grow bags at 99p each. I went in there to get a little greenhouse that they had on offer- bit like a small gazebo really but with "walls" and a roll up door, and came out with that plus 6 grow-bags I find them useful to grow things like aubergines and chillies in. So, if anyone else is thinking that they might be needing growbags this year it might be worth checking out Aldi if you've got one nearby. Dark_Storm_01
What I like about Lidl is that they do really good techy stuff... Their computers aren't bad - the only thing wrong with them is that they stick a low end graphics card in there. All their electrical stuff is much cheaper than UK based and sourced items - and the stuff from Lidl is guaranteed for 3 years, not the typical 1 year in this country. If you have solid concrete anywhere, and you need it drilling - the SDS hammer drill they have is brilliant - it goes through concrete like its made of butter. And at £50 (or oeven £40 like it was a month ago) its a bargain! They are as good as DeWalt and Hilky (or Hilty - however its spelled) which are so expensive for what they are. Just not keen on some of their food though
ali-s
Just bumping this up Lidl have special offers on gardening stuff. Thursday 1.3.07 and Saturday 3.3.07 I might just get there this year if it doesn't snow
Christian
Thanks Ali! I saw their ad in this months Gardeners World. Climbing roses for £1.29 and Dahlias for 99p! I'll be there! I bought their garden shredder last year and its fab, really quiet! £60 compared to £130 elsewhere! AND a 3 year warranty!

Happy-Mama
So glad I found this thread, need heaps of gardening stuff for this year never thought of Lidl, will hopefully get there on Saturday. Do their tools last well?
Christian
Yes the tools are fab. Was a bit dubious at first as they aren't brand names but they do the job.......They have a rotivator for £40 . I have just put the long plastic cloche up (not easy with the wind) and its ok! Have also planted the fruit trees in pots as the builder hasn't been yet to sort out the garden . They are really good quality. They have more plant stuff coming in on Saturday. check out www.lidl.co.uk
ali-s
I bought a cloche tonight, a seed planter thingy and 2 growbags. Didn't see any fruit trees in my local store I would have some of those as well Have you seen the wellingtons that will be on sale on Monday? I would love the yellow daisy ones The welly clogs look good as well.
Christian
I wasn't expecting the fruit trees to be in store until Saturday, so try then. The wellies look fab, but only go up to a 8 and i'm a
